My first smart phone was a BB Bold 9780.... I don't think I will ever buy another.

Not a big surprise - I saw this article last month;

$1:
Trend Micro partnered with analysts from Altimeter Group and Bloor Research on a just-released report that compared major mobile platforms from Apple, Google, RIM and Microsoft and rated them based on a series of factors such as built-in security, application security, device and data protection, authentication, device wipe, device firewall, certifications, and virtualization.

When the numbers were in, BlackBerry's rating of 2.89 was significantly ahead of Apple's iOS (1.7), Microsoft's Windows Phone (1.61), and Google's Android (1.37).

Everyone else has a ways to go to catch RIM on security.

I've used iPhones, BBs and played around with my brother's Samsung, and the one I liked the best was still RIM. The iPhone was nice but overly-reliant on apps I thought. To me, the BB came ready to work right out of the box, but the Apple was only great after you downloaded $50 worth of apps.

Apple makes a great toy but for everyday quality I'm sticking with my BB. Apple doesn't play well with others and it seems they want to charge you for everything.

Being rated "Army" strong used to be quite something. Hopefully it still is.

I think people confuse toys and function. Seem more of a "in" club thing with isomethings lately too.

I've noticed the trend too, until they actually have to choose between apps and bandwidth, or food and rent.
