Finding those wrecks would be stunning... if anything besides the odd pot has survived. Still should be very informative.

Gavin Menzies has led several expeditions on the west coast in search of Chinese junks which might help prove his theory that the Chinese 'discovered' the Americas decades before Columbus did.

What can I say, I picked it up in the CKA Newswatch yesterday, following up on it I found the earlier story had been done by the Straight in 2008.

If the Chinese hadn't burned their fleet in 1500, Europe would have remained a pimple on Asia's ass while the Chinese dominated the globe.

I think you are right there. The ships were huge, crews of about 1200, made Columbus's ships look like tug boats'

There is a book out called "Isle of the Seven Cities" in which the Author claims that they reached Cape Breton Island and were extracting Gold there.

And there was a whole armada of them, far more naval ability than Europe had at them time. But China used these ships just to discover novelty - bring back Giraffes and such. Once the Portuguese got going, they established trading posts and greed drove the whole operation.
