Something that's not mentioned enough when this issue comes up is that Kaepernick and other home-hating morons who take a knee or sit on their fat asses during the national anthem don't actually have a point to justify their behaviour.

Or if they do, what is it? Stats and facts don't support their claims. Michael Brown wasn't a gentle giant. He never did put his hands up and cry out "Stop. Don't shoot." Trayvon Martin wasn't a fresh faced young boy who just wanted some skittles and ice tea. Black Lives Matter is full of shit and so are Commies like Kaepernick.

NFL opening game ratings down again in Falcons loss to Eagles
Ratings were 11 percent below 2017’s kickoff game

Point being?

Think hard before you reply. Do a little homework.

Can't speak for Marin but I actually made a point of watching the NFL TV ratings all last season.

There was a dip following the Kaepernick Kerfuffle but it appeared to possibly begin even before that.

Shortly after though you could notice a slight, general increasing downswing but true believers like Beave could find an outlier of a good ratings game and represent it as the one true stat.

By the end of the season though the downswing in ratings appeared pretty much universal across the league.

Even the ratings for the super bowl were down:

https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/super- ... 202687239/

Multiple reasons were given for decreasing interest in the NFL but anti-American displays by some players were high among those possibilities.

So now the new season has begun and it's starting off looking like deja vu all over again.

And...I forgot...what was your point again?

When looking at ratings, not just for the NFL but for other long-running shows or sports event, one must consider the big picture.

TV is seeing a massive decline in viewership.

The NFL's 'wheelhouse' is the 24-36 year old and that audience is watching 40% less TV than it did in 2011. That's huge.

So, while the NFL might be seeing declines, that's completely expected based on the trends that are already taking place. External factors help push it lower too.

FWIW, I'm not an NFL or football fan.

'It's not OK': NFL concussions rose 16% in 2017 amid CTE fears
$1:
One of the NFL’s most pressing problems isn’t close to being solved as the league’s chief medical officer discussed a rise in the number of player concussions last season.

Dr Allen Sills said there had been 291 reported cases of concussion last season compared with 250 in 2016, a 16% rise. In mitigation, the 2017 figures could have been affected by more players self-reporting concussions than in the past. However, Sills said that was not an excuse. “It’s not OK to simply stand behind that and say, ‘Well, the numbers are going up because we’re doing a better job,’” he said. “I think to me this is really a call to action to see what we can do to drive it down.”

The problem isn't the concussions, it's the contact and how the game is played. I'll explain.

Concussions are a part of the game and will always be as long as they keep playing by the same rules. When you have two grown men, some 250-350lbs smashing into eachother, this is what happens.

We now are aware of this more than ever.

Either we decide to remove contact from football or accept the risks of playing the game and move onward.

I prefer the 3rd option: "we" ignore the bullshit and change the channel. Let the weirdoes solve their own problems.

There is no need to over-think this drama.

Time to make the NFL a flag football league. I'd suggest making it a touch football league, but then someone's ego would get bruised and then there would be no end to the tears from these giant snowflake man-children.

Australian rules football have the same problems.

$1:
One of the most common forms of head injury sustained in the AFL is concussion, which will affect about 6-7 players per team, per season.
