Andyt you would have then had my Grandmother die at 98yrs old and removed her from our lives 4yrs earlier denying our time spent with her and hers with us. The medical team did heroic efforts and saved her life. She only needed to have those air tubes in the nose after they saved her life. Do to their heroic efforts I was able to put a smile on this woman's face numerous times and she even got me and some of my cousins laughing at my last visit with her. We all knew it would have be my last time to see her and I cherish the memory. That memory in your kill the useless people world would have been denied both of us and the family that was there.

You sir would have had this woman die!

Those four years you would have denied her would have been four years left that her children, grand children, great grand children and even great great grand children got to spend with her and her with them.

As I said earlier you have gone from assisted suicide to down right murder all in the name of saving a few dollars.

Yes it was her choice and I agree that she should have the right to make that choice. Andyt stated that he wants to be able to pull the plug on people because he fells their life is no longer viable giving them no choice in the matter of their deaths. Thus he has gone from assisted suicide to murder as being acceptable.

Have you followed Bobbi Kristina Brown's story? (Whitney Houston's daughter, 21 years old).

From what I read in the press (and we all know that might as well be a load of shit, but lets say it is true) she is brain dead. She cannot make the choice to stay on respirators forever (just because the family can afford it... most people can't), but there is no hope for her to ever come back to life. From what I read, the doctors have told the family that, and she will be taken off 'life support' (which is not what it is because she is brain dead so no life to support...), respirators, tomorrow, on her mother's anniversary of her death.

Would you keep her on a respirator forever because you can or would you peacefully let her pass? The doctors cannot do anything for her anymore...

*Edit
Yes, it was my grandmother's choice. But she wouldn't have that choice if euthanasia would have been illegal... The morphine she was prescribed eventually killed her...

Once again we go into a situation where andyt's premiss does not apply. There is family there and the DR's came and asked the family (that's the version I read and as we know there is the tabloid sensation thus we will not know for sure which version is correct.)

Yet in andyt's version there would be no impute from the patient, the family or anyone except the book keepers.

Just a side note/thought:

Isn't very creepy that they found Bobbi in almost the same situation and Whitney. The only difference I've heard is that Bobbi was face down in the water where Whitney was not.

Totally creeps me out.

That's just keeping meat fresh. Once higher brain function is gone, so are you.

The lack of higher brain function got her into the tub.

The police are treating Bobbi's live-in-boyfriend as a suspect. Seems he may have drowned her.

A puffed up rant

YOu don't seem to understand the difference between saving someone's life who has a good chance of surviving with some kind of life, and allowing somebody to die peacefully who's time has come anyway. Can't speak for the US, but what I'm talking about in regards to Canada is what's already happening. The new law won't affect that one bit.

Bit then you just wanted to puff yourself up, with this "you sir" and spout your little speech. Doesn't really matter what I said, your response would have been the same. You're welcome. Hope it was satisfactory for you.

In fact andyt you are now trying to claim that you did not mean what you said. That you want to pull the plug on anyone who you deem as not having a worthwhile life. You are not letting people die with dignity you are committing murder.

I do find it funny that you feel the need to alter something I said just to try and sound funny. All it shows is how pathetic you and your arguments are.

Don't worry about it. Even the most even tempered posters here seem to have had enough of his bullshit.

Really?

andyt andyt:
Nope. Absolutely his choice. But as he came close to the end, I think it's OK for the state to invest its resources in people who have a chance, not do any and all heroic measures to allow your dad to hang on for a few more days or weeks. Provide palliative care to keep him comfortable. Don't hook him up to machines that more or less keep him artificially alive. Would you agree?

Where have I backtracked from this position, OTI? What part of this do you disagree with?
