And read my response to him. Is your English sufficient for that? My point about Islam was directed at Brah. This time. Next time it will be Martin of Fiddle Dog hurling that shit again. With you cheering on the sidelines. I wonder if you even understand what these guys are saying, sometimes.

andyt andyt:

What gets deliberately ignored in the breathless headlines is how many women and girls are taken as sex slaves all over the world, every day. Because that's not the Muslim outrage du jour, let's not worry about it tho.

I'm not ignoring it; it's just not particularly relevant to this situation. Generalizing the behaviour of Boko Harum to Muslims/blacks/"man's inhumanity to man" is an interesting philosophical discussion and let me know when you find an answer.

In the meantime, there is a very particular problem with respect to the abduction of these schoolgirls. Find them. Disperse this group to the extent possible with limited resources. Help the girls get back to their families. Remind the world that Goodluck Jonathon is a crappy corrupt leader in case he tries to take credit. Let Africa go back to being Africa.

It's ignoring of how widespread this is that allows the likes of Brah to make it a Muslim thing. As if this is an unusual situation.

Who's going to do the finding and dispersing of Boko Haram? "Let Africa go back to being Africa." Maybe a good slogan, but that's about it. My point is that there are outrages happening in the world every day, all over the place. We like to focus on one instance, cry somebody do something, maybe even get it together to do something ourselves, then sit back and think everything is OK now.

Yes, my English is sufficient for understanding your response, and yes, I understand what these guys are saying, always.

Why do you always want to drag me into your nonsense arguments. Doesn't the fact that I'm not there tell you I'm not interested. How thick in the head are you, anyway?

But, what the Hell, you've got me here now, I'll add my 2 cents.

OK, so as I understand it you would like do divert from the fact the Boko Harram guy was ranting about selling the 200 or whatever schoolgirls - almost all of them Christians as slaves. So now you want to talk about the underground human sex traffic trade in Europe, or the Bondage slavery in other parts of the world. Same thing only different, right?

I don't know. There are differences. The Boko Harram guy seems to be talking about some sort of slave market where 200 girls can be easily unloaded. Does that exist? Not sure. If it does it is typically Muslim, and different than say the thousands of girls smuggled out of the old soviet empire by criminal enterprises through trickery and promises of real jobs in the free world.

If Slave markets such as the ones Boko harram hints at exist they would be in places like Mauritania, Sudan, or other parts of Africa where we know actual slaves still exist, in the traditional definition of the word. And yes, it would be exclusively Muslim although Christians and others would be sold.

It is unusual, not due to the crime, but due to the scale.

$1:
Who's going to do the finding and dispersing of Boko Haram?

It sounds like the US and Great Britain will be offering some help. I imagine they won't be all that difficult to find fgiven the intelligence resources at their disposal.

$1:

Point taken. True, but not particuarly relevant to the situation at hand.

And I'd like to point out the outrages in other parts of the world are discussed. That's how Andy knows about them, and is able to force them into conversations such as this one on the Muslim terrorist organization Boko Harram for diversion when it becomes evident even to that thick head their activities are inexcusable.

There is so much more that could be discussed than "it's the muslims again.' Like what are the reasons Boko Haram exists? How much support does it have? Why is the Nigerian govt and military so ineffective? (People how's daughters were taken had no trouble finding the abductors, but didn't have the means to attack them. Meahwhile the military can't find them.) What are the ramifications if Boko Haram manages to seriously destabilize the country. OTOH, will this incident galvanize people into action...

But no, all we get is Muslim outrage du jour.

This was an act of Terrorism by Islamic Extremists, sorry if that reality offends you and as it's been pointed out this is an unusual situation to brutally kidnap 200 young girls like this.
