Hey Yogi! do you know where a guy could pick up a 100 or so sled dogs, I understood there were a few dogs left over from the Olympics in Whistler but the company isn't returning my emails.

Yogi Yogi:
Gunnair Gunnair:

CRUELTY is not to be tolerated under any circumstances! I like to fish, I like to eat fish. The fish that I catch & decide to keep are quickly given a couple of sharp whacks on the head to kill them as quickly as possible. Nothing hipocrytical about that. It's the hipocrysy of this whole bloody argument that pisses me off!

I'm not seeing hypocrisy here of meat eaters complaining about horses dying during entertainment events.

Would you mind enlightening me?

When trying to tag your partner into the match, missing his hand doesn't count.

Try again.

Would you all be as pissed off if the driver had died instead?

Putting animals at risk for human entertainment, whether 2 die per year or 20...makes little sense to me personally.

Me either.

No, the driver makes the choice to get on the horse.

No. For him it's a matter if personal choice.

I'm with OTI 110% here.

$1:
Difference is, cows are killed in the most humane way possible and used for human consumption.

These horses are used strictly for entertaining people in an archaic event that typically leaves one lying trampled to death on the ground and others with injuries so bad, they're killed.

That being said, and I love my dogs, I find myself ambivalent to the whole exercise. Considering this at least gives horses a purpose whereas without one they would be food or worse not exist in the 1st place.

So a few die... they die doing something they were born to do. Kinda like gladiators. Frankly, they are beasts it's not like they have a shot at something better anyway.

I'm pissed off at the horse owners saying they love the horses like family members, but then expose them to a known high risk activity, but crying crocodile tears when the horses do get killed. That's like entering your kid in a soapbox derby down a mountain and then crying about him getting killed.

It's not the end of the world that horses get killed in wagon racing, it's just phony to cry about it when it happens every year.

Gladiators? That's a bit of a stretch. Thoughts on dog fighting then?

I used to take my dog mountaineering. He was exposed to some risk, but then so was I, and it was obvious he lived for it. On the other hand, I didn't take him climbing with me where he would obviously not survive - he had to wait at the bottom, howling all the while.

I don't think not existing is worse, you don't exist to make that choice.

Again, I'm more p o'd about the hypocrisy of crying about something you know has a pretty good chance of happening. Would you enter your dog in an event with similar odds that he really isn't that interested in? Say like dog racing, except with land mines?

Well, considering a good number are intentionally bled to death, I'd consider it completely different from chuckwagons.
