Benoit Benoit:
Brenda Brenda:
I don't think it is about winning or losing :?

You always make things sound so... cold , while they are not. Do you have ANY emotions?

Up to a certain point, fetuses are in war with their mothers. Emotions exist so that we are forced to stop and think about that.

WAR???

Not really.
If you said they were parasiting, I'd agree with you.

Emotions and ration don't really go together...

For example, postpartum depression is an emotion explainable by the necessity for mothers to stop and think about whether or not it is worthwhile to invest themselves in their babies.

I disagree. When I took Biology 100 years ago, I was taught that a parasite lived off its host to the detriment of the host.

Which is what Benoit claims. And what sometimes happens, although it is not the intention.

Pseudonym Pseudonym:
DerbyX, I have at all points acknowledged the bias of CPCs and whatever other anti-abortion groups you wish to name. Your refusal to do the same for abortion-advocacy groups such as Planned Parenthood puts this discussion at an end. Maybe we could debate some other time. Have a nice night.

My refusal is based on fact not emotion.

You acknowledge CPC bias because its obvious. They do not advocate abortion period.

I don't acknowledge Planned Parenthood as biased because they do not push an abortion agenda.

See the difference.

PP provides information for an informed decision then supports whatever descion that is. They do not try and talk women out of choosing to have the child in favour of an abortion.

The same cannot be said for CPCs or pro-life movement groups.

One is biased and the other is not.

Bad example

A woman with PPD does not stop and think. She tries to survive.

The whether or not it is worthwhile to invest themselves in their babies has fuckall to do with PPD. Don't insult the women who suffered from PPD, Benoit.

Aging_Redneck Aging_Redneck:
Holy crap. Do you notice how putred and skanky this thread gets whenever Derby comes in to spread his left wing church of hate philosophy?

Only a couple of hours ago, we were all having a friendly conversation.

I am getting sick of you trolling this thread trying to stir up shit.

I did not infringe upon your debate with Brenda and I have had very productive debates with anybody who is not you.

You keep trying to stir up shit be bitching about me stirring up shit.

If you want to continue being an asshole all the time the just ignore me.

I ignore hwanker no matter what he says and if you aren't ever going to contribute meaningful points then don't respond to me at all.

On Yer Bike.

No.

1) Selfish implies conscious thought.

2) Genes code for proteins. That is their function. Other proteins then replicate them or they replicate by self replication processes.

Dawkins coined the term "the selfish gene," and the unsophisticated have taken it to mean that human beings are unremittingly selfish. This is a misapprehension. Pinker amplifies the point nicely. "People don't selfishly spread their genes; genes selfishly spread themselves. They do it by the way they build our brains. . . by making us enjoy life, health, sex, friends, and children."

When a mother, watching her son enter surgery, wishes she could take his place, "it is not the species or the group or her body that wants her to have that most unselfish emotion," Pinker writes. Much less is it she herself, or the love that consumes her. "It is her selfish genes."

As usual the truth will out:

$1:
Planned Parenthood has received criticism for withholding court-subpoenaed medical records of patients in these and other cases, but defends its actions on the grounds of medical privacy. Cases in Indiana and Kansas remain unresolved. In October 2005, Planned Parenthood Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota was fined $50,000 for violation of a Minnesota state parental notification law.

In 2007 Planned Parenthood in various states was subjected to a series of phone calls by students on the staff of a University of California, Los Angeles student-run magazine, The Advocate, run by a student pro-life organization. The calls included one in July 2007 to Planned Parenthood of Idaho offering a donation if it could be earmarked for abortions for black women because, "the less black kids out there the better." Answering the phone call, the organization's vice president of development and marketing said, "Understandable, understandable" and continued, "Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited and want to make sure I don't leave anything out." Planned Parenthood of Idaho's CEO later issued a statement saying that the officer "violated the organization's principles and practices" and was suspended

We don't see CPC individuals being ousted for violating their principles because prevention of abortion is their founding and defining principle.
