Zipperfish Zipperfish: raydan raydan: Don even helped you out by icing too mnay players late in the third, taking a bench minor and letting Montreal tie up the game (which they went on to win in O/T). He was good for us... but I still don't like him.

After being fired by the Bruins because he was too busy showboating for fans rtaher than counting his players, he went to lead the Colorado Rockies to a stellar 6th place Smythe Division finish before being drummed out of that town too. Did I mention that there were only six teams in the Smythe Division? Screw you Cherry! GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!

Well, now we know for a certainty that hockey brings out the worst in Zippy. But that just makes him another good Canadian kid.

Thanos Thanos: Well, now we know for a certainty that hockey brings out the worst in Zippy. But that just makes him another good Canadian kid. Egg- zack-ly. If I were a Bruins or Leafs fan, I'd be swinging from the other corner right now. Just loving the run here, and hoping they can keep it going tonight! Rivalries aside, I do think CBC has the crappiest hockey analysis though. I don't mind Milbury, actually. Kelly Hrudey gets too pissy sometimes, as does Ron Maclean. And their post-game show is execrable. Love Bob Cole though. Liked Harry Neale too, actually. Bob "Fathead" McKenzie on TSN is a guy hockey afficiandos like. He catches every nuance of the game. He knows how long the players have been on the ice, how many of the defence shoots right vs left, what exaclt6 constitutes a too mnay men penalty, etc.. Sporsnet Pacific is great, but we got three Vancouver homers there with Don Taylor, Gary Valk and John Garret. They just want to wallow in victory when the Canucks win, which is pretty much what I want to do. GO CANUCKS!!!!

Zipperfish Zipperfish: Bob "Fathead" McKenzie on TSN is a guy hockey afficiandos like. No, McKenzie is the guy liked by the Vancouver Euros fans, who definitly are not true hockey guys. More like ringet aficianados!

More like ringet aficianados! Let me guess....Leafs fan right. Mmm hmmm. Well, your bitterness is understandable. We got 17 players of Canadian nationality on the team -- same as the Bruins, same as San Jose, one more than the Loafers. We've got 4 or 5 swedes, 3 or 4 Americans and assorted others. That plan just blew up in your face didn't it? Cherry is predicting a Canucks win tonight. Guess he's sick of getting booed by Canucks fans. GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!

Well, you guys nearly did blow the first round in spectacular fashion before you got lucky in OT of game 7. Looking back on that round some of Don's criticism was probably a lot more valid that you're willing to admit.

The 10 seconds he spends on the Canadian team before moving on to the Bruins? And Burrows goal in Game 7 OT was a beauty. Luck had nothing to do with it. Like I said, he can go to Boston and be their colour guy. He doesn't know hockey, he's not interested in the Canadian team in the run (recall the show is called Hockey Night in Canada). Maclean and Cherry are old and stale. Fat head Mackenzie's forgotten more about hockey than Cherry ever knew. GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!

Zipperfish Zipperfish: bootlegga bootlegga: Zipperfish Zipperfish: Whatev. He doesn't know bugger all about hockey. I wouldn't agree with that. He called the Canucks loss in Game 3 AND their win in Game 4. I might not agree with everything he says concerning hockey, but he definitely knows a helluva lot about it. Just because he doesn't like the Canucks doesn't mean he doesn't know much about hockey. Really? I switch the channel between periods becasue I get fed up with watching Cherry and Maclean review the highlights of whatever series Boston is in during Canucks games, so I might have missed that. So I suppose that he might have deigned to mention the Canucks at some point. And Cherry does know a lot about hockey--at least how the game was played in 1974. Take a look at Fathead Mackenzie on TSN and see what I'm talking about. See the difference in the level of analysis. This guy is all over the nuance of the game, not just showboating whatever "good Candian kid" is coming through the system. Cherry is just a parody of his former self. His expiry date has long since passed. Him and Maclean had a good run, and it's time to get rid of them both. Cherry can go do colour for the Bruins or something. GO CANUCKS CO!!!!!! So you don't watch him yet you are sure he knows nothing of hockey... I agree the guy is a cartoon and a giant joke, but he does know his hockey - even today's version of it. Had you watched today's Coach's Corner you would have seen him give excellent examples of hockey fundamentals (like praise Vancouver for their dump in tactics - which lead to the goal in the 1st period). Then he went and harped on SJ for playing the 5-on-3 stupidly in Game 4. The only really negative thing he said about the Canucks was that he hates that they get a 3-1 series lead and then fall asleep. This year that is absolutely true. And the Bruins, Cherry showed one measly highlight ffrom yesterday's game. And comparing Cherry to MacKenzie, oh please. MacKenzie is even more of a blowhard and joke than Cherry. You couldn't pay me to watch that asshole on the Toronto Sports Network - the second Rogers Sportsnet showed up, I said goodbye to TSN forever.

damn...most of our games are versus broadcasts. We don't see anything of Cherry except during the regular season when we have a few games covered by CBC.

You couldn't pay me to watch that asshole on the Toronto Sports Network - the second Rogers Sportsnet showed up, I said goodbye to TSN forever. Hey dissin' Coach's Corner is working for me! The Canucks are on to the Stanley Cup final. OK onward--Cherry called Kesler a rat, said he's "not that good.". Anyone that calls Kesler a rat don't know shit about hockey. Period. Case closed. That guy almost won the Nashville series single-handedly. Ron Maclean dissed Torres and even Burrows--the guy who has scored 6 goals in Vancouver's last five elimination games, including the Game 7 winner in OT against Chicago. Not many folks likes Ron Maclean in Vancouver, I can tell you that. TSN does suck, but I like Fathead Mackenzie just 'cause Phil Esposotio took a swing at him and he used to have an awesome mullet. Plus, he's got a fat head. It's got its own weather system. I was on TSN just now, and they are showing some radio show (I know, "showing" a radio show? WTF?) with three Toronto sports guys all studiously avoiding the subject of hockey. Hilarious. I like the way Cherry always sticks up for the soldiers overseas, and you can tell it's straight from the heart with him when a player or a young prospect is hurt or killed. But that clown and Ron Maclean dissed my team one too many times, so screw 'em. GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!
