DerbyX DerbyX:
So far the election is over and we see are whiny cons bitching about the NDP. Aside from their age what is their to laugh about?

Nah, the only person bitching here is you.

I'm laughing because the left protest vote backfired, the left freaked out the suburbs of Toronto and then, they voted Conservative.

You guys have the Orange Crush we have the Blue Tsunami.

Cheers. [B-o]

Gunnair Gunnair:

You've never mocked a rookie MP on the right?

No actually I haven't. In fact my criticisms are almost entirely platform based and social position. Making stupid procedural mistakes is irrelevant.

Stockwell Day was a rookie MP in 2000 with the Canadian Alliance when he was taken to task for his religious beliefs.

Just about the level of intelligent response expected. You guys had people who believe humans walked along side dinosaurs.

This is 2011, not 2000. Its not a rookie mistake but his belief. How is this the same? In addition, when you mean "he was taken to task", who do you mean? It wasn't me doing that in 2000 was it.

Glad you noticed that too.

Us Conservatives are very happy with our majority, and even more happy watching Liberal humps like Derby jump in at the defense of the new NDP MP's.

But in the end, that's all he's got left since his party is in ruins. [laughat]

Ohhh... gotcha. Do I understand then that mocking a rookie MP for a rookie MP mistake is verboten but mocking a rookie MP because he admits to certain religious beliefs makes him fair game?

Your party was reduced to 2 seats there sparky. Then 20 seats following that and then 12 seats before imploding. Great job. [B-o]

OK, I'm going to go and quote myself:

No actually I haven't. In fact my criticisms are almost entirely platform based and social position. Making stupid procedural mistakes is irrelevant.

Having a creationist belief isn't a rookie procedural mistake that gets corrected with experience.

No, actually its wrong:

In fact my criticisms are almost entirely platform based and social position(except for religious beliefs publically aired).

My criticism is based on social position such as anti-abortion/SSM/etc. Clearly his creationist beliefs fall into that category.

That is not a procedural mistake a rookie MP might make such as speaking out of turn or not observing parliament protocol.

You seem to be mistaking the reasons for mocking a rookie MP (or any MP). Procedural mistakes, like something a first year sailor might make (ensign?) because of inexperience (tying a line wrong) isn't the same as mocking somebody for their beliefs (such as a sailor who thinks only men should be allowed in the navy).

If you were mocking or attacking them because they thought Canada should mothball the navy and spend that money on saving the whales or something it wouldn't be a problem because clearly that belief would be counter to yours.

If however you are laughing at them because they didn't realize they had to sign in before sitting in parliament or that they must use blank ink instead of blue (procedural mistakes not political/belief based) then its different.

So far I see a shitload of idiot cons attacking them based entirely on their age. I expect them to ridicule the NDP political platform. Bitching about the fact they are young is just plain stupid.

At the very least, people should know a bit about the party or person they are voting for.

In the last election, many protest voters that went for the NPD obviously did not.

If we only allowed clearly informed voters who had read and contrasted national platforms and gotten to know each of the candidates in their riding how many voters would be eligible.

The wave of support for the NDP in Quebec was based largely on the NDP social platform which is important in Quebec.

Given that the CPC took most of their platform from the Libs and have largely abandoned the root causes they began with why did you vote for them?

Note: If it was a choice between them or the Bloc I can understand but then that's not exactly policy based informed voting is it?

Its not so much mocking as disagreeing. Disagreeing with another parties political platform is a reason for voting. Ridiculing their MPs because they are young is just stupid don't you agree?

You disagreed with me about the Liberals and their commitment to defence spending. That I can understand. You didn't attack them because of their age or skin colour or lack of experience.
