My contempt of the French reflects their contempt of Americans. I do applaude them though for the ban on the Burka, niqabs, ect as it is a matter of public safety not on a matter of religion. I am given to understand that the French don't even like a small visible cross around the neck (I could be wrong about that point).

Your contempt of France is simply the propaganda you've been fed to you by the media and your government. There is no history of mutual contempt between the nations. There was a period of nastiness when France loudly decided not to join the US in the invasion and occupation of Iraq. A pretty wise decision in hindsight.

I think there is contempt from the French for the US (and who can blame them). But then they have contempt for everybody. The US just gets all pouty when somebody doesn't love them. Almost as bad as Canadians in that respect.

I do applaude them for having the guts enough to ban the burka and head coverings.

It has nothing to do with religion, just society's safety.
