Shame, blame, fault and judgment have no part in this. This is kinda like Germany post WW1 and Pre WW2. There is a hurt that can give rise to hatred if it isn't dealt with.

If all we have to do is admit that using nuclear bombs against civilians is a bad thing, then it's a fair deal to keep them on the side of the west.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
Shame?? To this day they don't think that they did wrong. Have you actually read any history regarding Japan, what they did, and their refusal to admit their war crimes? Speaking of slaps, you could use one up side your head.

Have you ever seen their people? They apologize for everything, you could punch one in a face and they apologize. I have seen people on here talk about how cultural differences need to be respected, in this case there is a big one, in Asia honour is extremely important (killing themselves over dishonour was/is a very real thing for a very long time), Japan has acknowledges the war crimes and while from a western view their apologies may not seem sincere, for Japan they are. Japan has also given monetary reparations to Korea and other occupied countries.

I live in a former Japanese colony. I've traveled throughout Japan and other areas of Asia, formerly occupied by the Japanese. You've been watching too many Karate Kid movies if you think you could punch a Japanese man in the face and get an apology.
$1:
you could punch one in a face and they apologize

This statement about qualifies your understanding of Japan and the Japanese.

Or, it was a hyperbole.

Hyperbole would mean that it was an intentional exaggeration. Based upon what I've read in your posts, on this matter, I doubt that. Thanks for trying though.

The point of the post is that the Japanese apologize for a lot of things, even things that are not their fault.

Saying "sorry, sorry", is not sincere, nor is it an apology. It's about face, and like most things in eastern Asia it's merely window dressing. Again, try not to use Mr. Myagi as the basis for your understanding of the Japanese.
