ASLplease ASLplease: Brenda Brenda: Huh, and here they (the bosses) are telling me I need to buy dress pants for an $8/hr nightshiftjob at a motel... as screwed up as that sounds, i think its always been that way Funny thing is, that the people at Service BC wear jeans. What I am trying to say is, if you want your personnel dressed in a certain fashion that is not "casual attire", you should either provide it, or pay a decent wage.

If you want to pay your personnel $8/hr, you should be happy they do not have tattooes in their faces and are washed clean.

Best to get into the habit of handing your assignments on time. When i was a kid i was bad for not handing in anything on time, and i suffered then. Now im always on time with anything.
Even if its half done, hand it in... Better to get part marks for what you got then getting marks taken off, and or zero.

You can NOT back that one up that's the one thing about that statement. every time someone challenges the accuracy of it, I have to concede to them. However, I do feel that the general statement remains intact.

ASLplease ASLplease: Lemmy Lemmy: Lateness is a discipline issue, not an academic one. That is the argument. You don't fail a kid in his math class if he punches another student in the school yard or shows up drunk at school. Disciplinary issues have nothing to do with achievement and demonstration of curricular expectations. ability to d boring homework is a discipline issue too. You don't fail a person that aces every exam if he is too damned busy learning other new stuff that he desn't bother to do his homework assignements. That's essentially what I did in math. I didn't do my homework but did well on all my tests and exams, so I got a good mark. Projects are one thing, but penalizing for not doing nightly homework would be a joke. That's like in university being penalized for not reading your textbook. They will get penalized down the line for it eventually.

Brenda Brenda: They should though... Call me old school, but I always thought the intention of learning something is to be able to use it for the rest of your life. You can't use "school behaviour" in your work life, and you work more than you go to school. I think school should fit onto the work world, and not the other way around. Aside from English, math, some geography and history (which I have studied and learned outside of school, so that doesn't really count) I don't remember anything from elementary school.

How about counting, the alphabet, how to get along with others, social interaction, respect for others... ad nauseum. What you were taught in elementary school, you needed in order to enter junior high school. What you wer taught in junior high school you needed in order to get into senior high school, what you learned in senior high school you needed to enter university....
