Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: Someone from your favourite country would say something like "If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter." Freedom of speech has it's limits. Your unbridled hatred of the US has gone over those limits. And my favourite country is Canada. I chose to be a Canadian and my kids were born here. If there was a war I'd fight in the Canadian Forces, not the British. I believe in this country and I have sworn an oath to protect it. There is more to being Canadian than hating the US.

I sure don't trust the US government. Then again, I don't exactly trust our government either. And Lemmy makes a very good point. For example, he's right when he quotes that the US is in charge of OUR oil. Fully 67% of ALL Canadian oil production is sent to the US under the FTA and then NAFTA. That percentage can never go down, and even if we are suffering a shortage domestically, we are still obligated to provide that 67%. Then again, it was our PM that decided that 67% was acceptable.
I also understand your sentiments Mr.Canada, even if they are somewhat misplaced. I used to live across the river from Detroit, for longer than you've been alive lol. I hated Americans and thought they were retarded for a long time. But that was all based on the yahoos from Michigan, Ohio and NY that came across the border and asked dumb-assed questions including, "Is there a bingo in Montreal tonight?" [lol] When I got older and started travelling in the US, I found, to my surprise, that Americans really aren't that bad after all. Sure, I ran into my fair share of dickweeds, but I run into those everyday right here at home.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: I sure don't trust the US government. Then again, I don't exactly trust our government either. I think that's the best point made yet on this thread. I don't hate Americans. But I think I do hate the US Government. And I KNOW I hate the Canadian government. I've lived in the USA briefly, I know many Americans and I travel frequently to the USA. I like Americans. They're really very much like we are. They complain about their government too. In that respect, Americans are much more like us than we think. We share a common problem: our governments have become to big and powerful and have taken on a life of their own..."a runaway Frankenstein monster" as Milton Friedman predicted. The size, scope and power of our governments is the biggest threat to our individual liberties and our collective security.

Except for one conniving little Texan dickwad I foolishly hired as a book-keeper I have not met an American I didn't like. Trust America? That's a whole different story.
