And your taxes pay for what???? we know its not defence. You dont have to worry about that one.

And our taxes pay for what? Have you forgotten about the $500 hammers and $1000 toilets the Pentagon bought? I think we have top honours for tax money flushed down the loo and not knowing where the sewer has taken it.

It's free in the sense that it does not cost you money out of pocket.

Like the fire department is free....and police services are free...and libraries are free...and grade school is free...etc etc.

True, it is not free, but at least the load is spread out a bit better. It is easier to cough up a few tax dollars here and a few tax dollars there than trying to save the money up before a proceedure or trying to dig out after an unexpected one.

There is no gaurantee that the government plan would be better or worse managed than the private ones. At least with a government plan, I wouldn't have to worry about whether or not the individual doc at the hospital are in my network or not. Had that happen with my first child. The hospital was part of the plan but the NICU doc wasn't. Talk about pissed! Cost me an extra $1600 for that one.

To me, a nationalised healthcare system would be no different than public schools. Everyone chips in whether they use it or not. It should be a public service just like education.

you just go by what the media tells you as well as online sources.

And I take it you have been critically ill in both countries and can tell us "the truth" from your own experience?

I do not claim to know about Canadian healthcare and its practices. I have been treated in the US and it is nowhere near as bad as what people make it out to be.

This llama guy seems to know everything about US healthcare. No one I know has ever had to re-mortgage their houses to pay for medical bills. That's just fucking absurd.

The "you are so much better than us" and your attack to llama told me you are pretty offended, and scared of change.

The world is larger than just the US, and not everything someone else does is bad. Sometimes, it is just a good thing to learn from others. Their good things, and their mistakes. Open up, get an open mind, and stop being offended by what others think works, that you have not experienced.

Of course we go by what we hear on the news and from friends. So do you, and that is why you don't want the Canadian system. Because of what you HEARD.

No system is perfect. Lets concentrate on the good parts from all over the world, put it together and make the best healthcare system anyone has ever seen, that is affordable for everyone...

bootlegga bootlegga:

I pay $333 by your logic, you pay $975.

So for 3 times as much you are expected to live 5 years less than me.

Thats a real good investment. Honestly, please pay more maybe they can make that a more like 10 or 20 years less...

$1:
Excellent points!

Only if they were true!!!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... expectancy

Either way, for three times the cost at least your average life expectancy could be higher than ours.

My source said 5 years difference, yours says 2 years...

Anyways if you are happy with your system that is great.

Nice that you finally responded to one of my posts too.

I'll post the ones you missed again, maybe you want to defend your system when try to respond to them:

$1:
Lack of health insurance causes roughly 18,000 unnecessary deaths every year in the United States...43 million uninsured.

http://www.iom.edu/?id=19175[/quote]

So how many Canadians die waiting?

Do you feel comfortable that some HMO decides what you are covered for and what is not covered?

Does it make you feel better thinking about the possibility of enormous debt from medical bills?

Do you ever wonder about paying your health care premiums should you lose your source of income?

Does it bother you that despite having the highest per capita expenditures (USA)in the world your average level of health for Americans is no better than that of Cuba?

And how about the out of pocket expenses, what did it cost you when your children were hatched?

1.1 in one thousand (travel to the US for healthcare).

lmao...999 people in 1000 use CANADIAN healthcare...

What does that tell you?

Do you ever worry that if you or one of your family get seriously ill that your HMO will use "recission" on your policy?

I do not dislike change either, you're making assumptions. I DO agree with your post, I am not as close-minded as you think. I only got offended when llama said we have to re-mortgage our houses to pay for our bills, which is rediculous. Other than that, you're right.

Do you look at your tax bill ever cause I do and broken down on my property tax bill is where the money goes and every 6 months I have to pay this bill. All of the things you just stated are not free at all.

Ignorance is bliss I guess?

perhaps the its time you realized the USA is not as great as y'all make it out to be, in fact I'd rather live in Russia than the USA, at least there they take care of their citizens.

WOW your real smart  Your hatred for the USA makes you a very ignorant person

Poor people in the usa are covered by Medicare just so you know this we dont let them die on the street. if they are to high on crack to care is not my problem.

actually I hate ignorant americans, like you. most americans are great people, your country is beautiful, its people like you that give the states its wonderful reputation abroad.

Chagrin Chagrin:
Your post here is void. I highly doubt you've been here or been treated medically in the US; you just go by what the media tells you as well as online sources. I'd place money on that. Pathetic. Your hatred for the US is apparent, and I guarantee you'd not choose to live in Russia.

Only as I've mentioned in the past my dad is from Washington State, so please try again. and yes I would live in Russia, I've often thought of living in Moscow or Saint Petersburg or even Volgograd, so that make you 0 for 2. but I can tell you go with what Fox news tells you, so really you are a hypocrite, you tell me that I do know what I'm talking about, but have you been to a Canadian Hospital? I doubt it. that makes your post void.

I never claimed to know everything about the US health care system, other than it bills the shit out of people when they are already down and out. what boils my blood is people like you, and MD come on to a Canadian Forum and proceed pass judgement on a system that by your own word you know nothing about, and then you get hurt because you get put in your place by someone because your being an arrogant arse, if you don't know what you are talking about, don't start a frigging argument, don't belittle a system you don't understand, you want respect, you gotta give it, and I don't think you respect Canada, again that makes both you and MD hypocrites, you want me to respect the USA, respect your northern neighbor first.

So basically, "I win because I say so?" Real mature. It's pretty apparent YOU'RE the one who's getting upset judging by your choice of words.

I don't know if you can read or what, but I never once claimed I knew anything about the Canadian system. I've not talked about that, so you calling me a hypocrite is pretty moronic.

I don't watch Fox News, again you're making assumptions.

In summary, I've never belittled the Canadain system, never made assumptions about it, and I do respect Canada. Good day, sir.
