Except that they posted a defict back in march and april as well and thats exactly what was said then too. :P

In all seriousness, we are in deficit spending due in fact to a bandwidth sale that shouldn't count anymore then selling the family china as it were.

I'll make you a bet, wait till the end of the year and if we don't don't have a surplus I'll go out side and hold on to my nuts and jump up and down yelling "their hot, their hot, their hot" for one minute and if we do then you have to do the same. Loser has to video and post the event.

Dude with that bet nobody wins.

In June of 2006, Mr. Jim Flaherty permitted, for the first time in our history, a 40-year mortgage with zero down payment, just what caused the problems in the United States

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. What caused the problem in the U.S.A. is a sub prime mortgage. Explain to me how a 40 year mortgage with 0 down caused any problems? The problem really started when all the U.S. mortgages moved back to the standard bank rate after a couple of years, and everyone that could afford them at sub prime couldn't afford them at the standard rate.

R=UP, but I still think zero down 40 year morgages is a dumb idea

Maybe so, but at the price houses were getting to it's some people's only option. Don't forget though the government just outlawed 0 down mortgages.

And you repeated it. It's hard to believe a federal politician doesn't understand the problems in the US right now. I mean it's everywhere in the news.. SUB PRIME MORTGAGE CRISIS, SUB PRIME MORTGAGE CRISIS. How petty are these guys.

The problem is I don't trust Harper to be honest in that regard, hell I don't think any of them can be trusted. We only know about the Liberal surpluses after the fact because banks recorded debt payments.

In addition, we are still left with the bandwidth sale issue. Some people will count it towards the budget deficit/surplus and others won't because its a one time sale not recoverable next year.

If you need an excuse to video tape yourself handling your package then just tell everybody you are performing a self hernia exam.

My first mortgage was at around 18% and I was making 6 bucks an hour. 8O

When I saw my first payment paid down a whopping 2 buck's off the principle I kind of lost faith in the banks.

But it was guaranteed by CMHC and I only needed a 5% down.
