I'm quite satisfied, also, to be noted, the CPC has many women MPs elected.

Once and for all time: Fixed election dates never applied to a minority government. The minority government or the opposition could have brought down the government at any time.. but Dion didn't.

He talked about it but he didn't..

43 times..

Why should voters have any confidance in Liberals who say one thing but don't do anything?

What was the point of having this election? You'd have bitched if Dion HAD brought down the government... now you're bitching because he didn't?

Right. The guys is such a loser... and still Stevie didn't get his majority.

Says a lot.

Come now, if parliament has all but frozen in partisan politics with compromises almost non existent, I'd much rather break the rule for an earlier election than to pay them to sit on their thumbs and spin for another year while accomplishing nothing.

Keep bringin' 'em on till parliament works or we get a majority.

I too voted NDP in Calgary, I'm sure I'll be subject to some witty remark from some partisan person. Harper in my opinion, is not what most Canadians want. If 37% of the vote should not constitute a government. The Liberals need to dump Dion, he is not what the Canadian liberals need at this time. I don't understand how the BQ can be a federal party when they only represent one province, perhaps we do need to look at changing election laws to disqualify the Bloc from being a FEDERAL party, federal to me, means it has the interests of ALL Canadians in mind, and has representatives in all provinces and territories.

Not to mention that each election costs 300 million dollars. Yeah, let's just keep having elections at that price tag until Canadians just give up on themselves and vote Harper.... Sounds really conservative.

I think the pundents on most the news networks have it right, no one really won tonight. I am dissapointed that the Liberals lost so many seats, i knew they wouldnt win.

I am really sad that Long time North Van MP Don Bell lost tonight, he has won 15 elections in a row in all 3 levels of goverment and even went through a heart attach during this campaign and was back out within days.

But i don't think there is really anything for you conservatives to be so happy about. All that has been proven is that Its impossible for Harper to ever get a majority even with all the cards in his favour. And we have wasted over $250 million tax payer dollars to determine this.

CPC won a hard battle but they still got stymied. They were really impressive in NB, Ontario (especially in the east) and in BC but they blew it in the rest of the maritimes and Quebec. To give Dion his due for hanging in there is one thing but he lost far to many seats. His job is peril.

I do agree, I like Dion and if he was able to at least hold close to the same amount of seats he might have been able to survive, but they lost to many seats. I can't see him staying leader long.

whats really surprising for me is looking at the cbc interactive map.

look at the map; where are the Liberals ?????

they have been reduced to a party of Montreal, Toronto,
and a little bit out east.

they hardly qualify as a national party anymore,
looks like the NDP has a stronger claim to that.

shouldn't a national party represent ALL Canadians,
not just the people in the big cities ?
