It is not Bart that is wrong, it is the HOCKEY PUCKs, who will not acknowledge that this Ian Stirling is the James Hansen of Polar Bears....he is either misquoted or lying....his own research indicates that----and earlier research in 1985 indicates that canibalism is normal for Polar Bears.

Look like a couple off testosterone driven assholes to me. I am sure there are more humane ways of doing that.

A word of advice fellas. Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you. Hope someone is around to get that picture.

What? No nasty retorts after I debunk the glorious polar bear expert with his own words?

You haven't debunked anything. You haven't shown that the killed bears were cubs. You're predicating your whole argument on suggestive but ambiguous word choice to describe the attacking bears.

Also, learn to put links inline with text, like this. Jackass.
Bears never fight?

Give them an ample food source and they wont fight. I've seen on many occasions were a grizzly has killed a black and fed on it for a week. They bury it,piss on it,then come back everyday, dig it up and snack on it for awhile.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Polar bears are eating seals? 8O Oh, well obviously that's evidence of the coming Apocalypse much the same as cows eating grass is.

Ehm, actualy they do, it's their main source of food and the seals aren't coming as ofen as they should.

Anyway, this is not related to what Bart or anyone else said, but to the main topic. Seen a few documentaries 2 weeks ago about the same situation: polar bears having nothing to eat due to the ice sheet getting thinner and thinner. If the ice sheet is getting thinner than seals don't have anywhere else to go and lay around and fight for females and reproduce. That alone used to put great number of seals toghether which in turn allowed the polar bears to grab a seal and eat it. (It's really not that hard to make the connections really, you just need an average IQ and you're all set)

There was this particular scene that really touched me: a female polar bear that hadn't eaten properly for 2 months. She and a few more other polar bears whoever had a huge luck when there was this giant (dont know the english word for it so i'll call it a whale) died on the shores where this female and the other bears weere located.

They all went to eat from it and at first they started to fight for it, but when they noticed it was plenty for everyone they all started to eat "peacefully" and none of them wanted to go anywhere else, but stay near that "whale" because there was no other source of food for many miles. They had food for the next year, but what are they going to do afterwards?

Think to the fact that they used to wwalk for miles and miles for food, but how are they going to walk with no ice?

Also, don't know if you've heard of polar bears getting tired faster than they should just because it's to damn hot for them and their big furs...well i did.

Just to make myself understood, it may seem like the world is ok from your confortable chair or couch that you're standing on, but that doesen't mean things really are like that.

Don't forget that we will probably be the last species to run out of food, but the animals who are adapted for thousands of years to a certain cycle will surely die first...especialy in the areas where the food was scare even under normal conditions.

It's a pure proof of ignorance not wanting to admit that truth due to what a pro-oil moron sais or just because wiki doesen't write down "OH YEAH, POLAR BEARS REALLY DO STARVE TO DEATH".

PS: Global warming has impact on ANY kind of enviroments wether it's cold, hot or temperate. If it changes the wether than it obviously changes the way animals reproduce, eat and travel. Again, you only need an average IQ (which is of 75 btw) in order to make a connection...oh and you also need 2 more things: basic biology studies which u do in the 5'th grade or so and ALOT of common-sence.

That to answer few of the stupid questions like: "how does GW affect polar bears".

Read a book ffs.

I spent over a year and a half at the arctic circle in a tent on the tundra and I can tell you that most of the ice melting polar bears starving is pure bullshit.

If the ice was getting thinner why are there a dozen barges(loaded) that are frozen in up north right now causing the third year of a major fuel shortage?
Where i was the ice gains an inch a day untill it hits allmost ten feet and wont even start melting untill july. The elders at baker lake, rankin and other small communitys also say this was the coldest 2 winters in 100 years.

So I find all this as pure alarmist bullshit and the guys that study the bears in Churchill and the north were in camp for dinner one night and we had a good chat.
They wont even talk to the media for fear of them being mis-quoted like the global alarmists would surely do. Their proffesionals though without an agenda and they do their work for the pure love of the job.
There not trying to sell books or lecture time.

And the tundra ain't exactely the ice sheet isn't it? ;)

No one talks about the tundra here m8, but about pure ice. In the tundra you also have land underneath ur feet, the polar bears in question have the ice and than alot of water.

Tbh if so many scietists are saying the ice is melting, than i kinda tend to belive them intead of beliving some greedy pro-oil politician who only cares about himself.

I for one have stopped the wishfull thinking (used to have it as well ;) ) because scietists have repeated even since the 90's that "the temperature is going to get higher and higher" and no one said anything and guess what: they did get higher and they still get higher and i don't need to go to the poles nore in the tundra to feel it.

I also don't belive everything a wannabe scietists say, but when you see Animal Planet showing documentaries about polar bears an entire week, every day, than something is clearly wrong.

As for the barges, besides the fact that a frozen barge is by no means a rational way of explainiang that there is no global warming, i don't supose you actualy expect the ice to melt imediately to prove you that the ice really is melting do you?

As for your "coldest winter in the last 100 years"...wow, guess what, we've also had "the toughest winter" in the last 30 years here in Romania and you know how long we've had snow? 2 weeks.
I know for a fact that we've had much togher winters than this one when i was a kid. When i was a kid i had snow an entire month and sometimes even longer, now it barely snows an entire winter, which here lasts 3 months. Last 7 winters we've had either no snow at all, or it snowed very faintly.

Here we're supposed to have 4 seasons: spring is almost gone or it's very short, summers are extremely hot, autumns are so far rather normal and winters have almost no snow and they are very cold for very short periods of time and than the temperature rises suddenly. Same patern for the last years. In what used to be the most fertile area of the country there were entire miles turned to sand in less than 2 years.

Btw, as i've said: just because things seem ok where you live, it doesen't make it ok for the rest of the planet and things seem ok because the Earth got hotter by just 0.8 degrees over the normal temperature...so far.

Well it's all about the money. You dont know how many people I've seen up there to get an "iconic" polar pic(stranded polar bear on floating ice) and dont usually get past the hotel at baker or gjoehaven because of the minus 70 windchill.
Same with a lot of "scientists". I'll beleive the ones that were at camp and they sure werent paid by any oil company but by the government who has very strict environmental regulations for the north.
I'm not saying the climate isnt changing, any geologist will tell you its been happening for millions of years.I'm just getting sick of all the people with an agenda as it kind of ruins it for the people that really do want to see the best and not in it for the money.

Tundra/ice sheets, all the same thing seeing how there connected.Polar bears wander both, when they wander into town they hold a raffle at school to see which youngster gets to shoot it.

Click my photo album if you want to see some pics of this so called warming.

Yeah i know, but again, not all polar bears live in Canada, some live in the Arctic region and i was reffering to those.

And i agree with you when u reffered to ppl with their own agenda messing things up even more. In the end we all live on the same planet and if changes are gonna take in the planet's climate than it will affect everyone, no matter the financial situatian.

A lot of Canada is the arctic. I have to laugh at the airports, they have government posters telling you what to do if you encounter one, what size rifle you should have, and where to place the shot for a kill.

Sorry again Bart, thought I'd just check for myself, and guess what turned up:

Unusual predation attempts of polar bears on ringed seals in the southern Beaufort Sea : possible significance of changing spring ice conditions

Gee, looks to me like he finds the predation on ringed seals unusual - of course, I'm not a master read-between-the-lineser like you.

Better luck next time. ROTFL

Unusual spring ice conditions in the Beaufort Sea? Hmmm, according to the Univ. of Illinois the ice conditions are text book normal.

Now all we have to do is follow the UK's example and ban Suzuki from elementary schools.
