Oh and judging by the past 10 years for the beginning of October, it's average, not cold and not hot.

Glad records exist.

The journal "Nature" was compelled by amateurs to retract an apocalyptic paper that claimed there was 'rapid warming' going on.

https://www.thegwpf.com/major-climate-p ... by-nature/

This is kind of a big deal when a peer reviewed paper is so utterly trashed that it has to face a formal retraction.

Seems those peers don't really bother checking the data just the politics.

$1:
“major errors in its statistical methodology.”

No shit.

I remember when the news first started telling us global warming was coming. I was thinking how great it would be to grow oranges in my back yard. Couldn't wait.

Was it you or was it some other guy who was thinking how great it would be to have your ground water "improved" by fracking?

Never heard of it. Doesn't even make sense. Best guess is you're trying to do that make a joke thing you attempt sometimes. Oh well...keep at it, I guess. Every once in awhile you come through and are good for a chuckle.

I was stone cold serious about the oranges though. Back then, I thought maybe they were too.

Oh wait...now that I know he's serious, I think I figured it out.

He's confusing the fracking affecting surface water thing. It was never supposed to be a good thing for surface water. Nobody ever said that. There were progs who seemed to be hoping it was going to be a problem though.

That's better than most Canadian provinces can claim.

That's because all that hydropower is bought at a discount (loss) rate from Hydro Quebec.

Read it again - nearly 50% of the energy New York state generates (not imports) comes from either renewables or nuclear power.

Tricks Tricks:
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
It's unusually cool/cold in the West right now. I went to Costco at lunch and there were people wearing SWEATERS....in OCTOBER....in SACRAMENTO... 8O 8O 8O

Last I checked I had a God-given right to wearing Hawaiian shirts and flip flops until Halloween.

It must be the end of the world!!!

Incase anyone was wondering how big of pansies Californians are. It was 20 degrees.

In all fairness, it's what you're used to.

I was stunned when I saw kids in Japan wearing sweaters and saying "Samui" (It's cold) when it was +25 in May. At the same time, they were likewise shocked to see me wear short sleeve shirts to school in November when it was +15.

Come to think of it, that would have to be at least some part of true. Most likely most of it. New York would be generating a lot of its own hydro. Off the top of my head seems to me I've heard names like Cohoes, Mohawk and Niagra for waterfalls in New York State.

Nevertheless we do hear stories like this one up here from time to time: New York City wants more of Quebec's clean energy, but how green does that make Legault? so it's understandable where the impression we get of Canadian hydro going south comes from.

I never listen to your prattle, so why should I listen to the puppy in my pons.
However, I have been having an urge to piddle on newspapers.
