Public_Domain Public_Domain: Thanos Thanos: Don't believe in gods or heroes, man. You just set yourself up for a fall. Think of Logan in Logan's Run saying, 'there is no sanctuary, there is no sanctuary' over and over and over again, and you'll get the general idea. no gods, but people want me to vote. i don't want to vote, i still think it's fucking useless/pointless/insulting/false. i mostly spread the word of futility. not received well tho. ndp 2015. kill me. Nah. You gotta do that last thing yourself. I voted Dipper out of sheer hatred for the PC's and GrandDad's Angry WRP conservatism. Both never did anything for me so fuck 'em. I actually don't care what the Dippers end up doing. If my mom gets some more free health care shit from them in her final years as a result then I'll be happy a teensy bit less angry than usual.

Delwin Delwin: Guns are still the easiest, most common and accessable way of committing a mass murder in the US. I doubt the kid had any expertise in bomb making, access to biological weapons or a plane that he could have flown into the church. Or were you thinking an army of robots? Ummm let's see, machete, throwing knives, any blunt object with some reach. Jam the doors shut and torch the place. I know it's the 21st century and all but you don't need to go all high tech to kill a bunch of people. Two assholes in Africa managed to murder around 2000 people in a matter of minutes by bulldozing the church they were taking shelter in some years ago. Crude but effective. As for any expertise the kid may or may not have had with explosives, you don't need to be an expert to make a variety of explosive devices. Pipe bombs are relatively easy to make. And if you don't know how, the internet can show you how. ANFO is super easy to make. Hell, I knew how to make ANFO before there was such a thing as the internet.

Nonetheless, still made less dangerous by limiting firearms from the equation, dummy.

If it's such a piece of cake, why do all the spree killers use guns instead? Give up?

I have to say I am kind of shocked at the level of support for the confederate battle flag that I am seeing on this forum. I was born and raised in the south. I seen my share of confederate battle flags in my time there back in the 60's and 70's. I never once thought to myself: "wow there is a person who really is proud of his southern heritage!" We all knew what they meant. They were not very common even back then (almost extinct now), so it really made you stand out to display that flag. Some of you older members remember when it was shocking for a man to wear an earring, or when you were a rebel for having a tattoo. For a man to wear a earring, Get a tattoo, grow long hair or a beard, he was making a statement. Long hair or earrings would get your ass kicked in the south back in those days. They didn't like hippies in that part of the world. You had to have short hair. The only acceptable forms of showing you were a badass was tattoos and the confederate battle flag. That flag was telling everyone that you hate yankees and blacks. If There were any other minorities around, they deserved your scorn as well. Most of these people quit school in the ninth grade. Most were married at 18 years of age. Most were too stupid to join the military. Most were my neighbors in the trailer park I grew up in. Most still live in that trailer park today. These people are ignorant inbred white trash. They cannot hold down a job at the car wash. They like to blame their station in life on others. http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/st ... na-state-/1961 was the first time the battle flag was flown at the South Carolina Statehouse. So how can anyone talk about this long history of the flag? The flag was put up in a time of great change in the U.S., like now. That flag was a way for southern states to flip off the feds for trying to end segregation. Only when the feds tried to end segregation did you see the rush from southern states to add the battle flag to their own flag, and start to fly the battle flag on state property. The feds should never have allowed it then. Google some images of the battle flag from the 60's and you are likely to see many white power signs to go along with them. That flag has always be divisive. There is a reason that you do not see that flag flying at federal institutions. There is a reason that flag is barred from the barracks, and living quarters of military personnel. http://www.forwardprogressives.com/mess ... -heritage/This guy manages to sum up my feelings as a southerner and my revulsion to that flag. I don't share his politics, just his veiws on the flag. Any of you that think that the battle flag is harmless love of one's heritage, I have a challenge for you. Take a drive down I-95. Once you are below the Mason-Dixon line deep in the heart of dixie, take a detour into the back country. Look for a bar displaying the confederate flag in the window. This will take you some time, there aren't that many left these days. If you google ahead of time, I am sure you can find one. Pull up, and go in for a drink. Order a Labatts. Light up a players cigarette. Be sure to tell them where you are from. Try to explain that your not a yankee, your a Canadian! Like they give a shit. They don't like foriegners or outsiders, and they don't like you.. Wear your rainbow pride pin to show your love for humanity. I give you 5 minutes before someones kicking your ass. I still have some of the southern accent that I grew up with. I might last 10 minutes if I bullshit real hard. Call the cops after they throw your ass through a plate glass window. The sheriff who happens to be the bar owners cousin will show up and arrest you for destruction of private property. You won't fare much bettor from his brother in law judge when you go to court either. They are a dying breed in America, but there are still a few of them around. Go have a few laughs with them, and see if you still fell like defending their flag.

And lets face it, the types of people who would engage in spree murders aren't exactly the well balanced type. It's exceedingly unlikely that they have to wherewithal and the follow through to make an explosive device. Guns are quick and simple and far too easy to get.

rickc rickc: I was born and raised in the south.... I've never been to the South but I've met several people from the South. Compared to Albertans, and other Canadians in general, I was genuinely shocked by that innate kindness, hospitality, and decency those folks from the South that I met had in them. I actually genuinely think they're some of the best people in the world, as long as you keep religion, race, and politics out of it.

Pretty much explains the Middle East too.
