Today I met the the immediate past president of the Liberal riding association before me. The current president for our riding association is someone I've never heard of. He doesn't know this individual either; nor was he given a notice of the riding association AGM this spring. He claims this new president is a kid, and hasn't called a riding association meeting. I submitted my request for a candidate package, but haven't receive it yet. He suggested I go to Liberal headquarters for Manitoba and ask for it. I did, but it was closed by the time I got there. Perhaps I'll get it; if not I'll see David Johnson tomorrow.

Vote Jon Gerrard. He's our only Liberal in the Manitoba legislature. Go Jon. I supported Jon for leader until he quit. I feel the leader of the provincial party should be someone who can get him/herself elected as an MLA. The only one in Manitoba is Jon. But he quit. Now we have someone else. Go Jon!

So, how do you, Winnipegger, prove that you are Robert Dyck?

If my name was Dyck, I wouldn't go around trying to prove it. 8O

I would with the Ladies.

That's funny, coming from you.

Are you really a machine shop operator? Has anyone checked? Does it really matter if you are or aren't? Is Gunnair really an RCN PO? Is Winnipegger a former aerospace engineer? Does it really matter if these things are true or not? And does anyone care?

No.

All that matters (to me) is how people behave here and now. What they did, or say they did or do is pretty much irrelevant. I imagine there are some pretty talented and experienced people on CKA. But when it comes down to it, we are all just dots on each other's screens.

I wasn't questioning his claim to have run for the Liberals, I question his judgement BECAUSE he has run for the Liberals ... especially his judgement on defense matters. I'm almost more trusting of the NDP and their platform. I would likely vehemently disagree with everything that they believe in but I would also expect them to be honest about what they believe in. My fairly long lifetime (now) experience with the federal Liberals in Canada is that they are a mealy-mouthed bunch of opportunists who were totally devoid of any kind of guiding ideology save "What will get us elected" (see EH-101).

Now, I don't quite run a "machine shop". I am chief engineer and operations manager for an assembly operation that exports products of all-Canadian design and high Canadian content around the World ... and that is the truth, take it or leave it.

Gunnair, I cannot speak for him but I will tell you that he knows details about the RCN that only an insider would know. It is a small and tight little community and the internal culture of it is not really in the public domain, so, I believe that he is what he says he is.

You are right. We coiuld all be lying weasels on here but that would be quite pointless for most of us to be so. It is an anonymous forum, for good and bad. Seriously, what is the point of lying to anonymous strangers, anyway?

I've never felt a reason to, but there are people who presumably wish they could be something they are not. Or they just get their jollies at misleading people. (See: Liberal Party) ;)
