desertdude desertdude:
So its OK for Israel to reject a US deal, their biggest ally, but not OK for Hamas to reject an Egyptian deal, one of their biggest enemies.

From an AP story on this subject:

$1:
Hamas has said it will not halt fire without international guarantees that Egypt and Israel will open Gaza's border crossings and end their seven-year-old blockade. Israel and Egypt are reluctant to ease the blockade, fearing this will enable Hamas to tighten its grip on Gaza.

The US plan (put up by that lying coward Kerry) is that Israel and Egypt will entertain this key demand of Hamas'.

It's not acceptable to either Egypt or Israel.

So Hamas keeps fighting and Israel will soon escalate the containment operation to a search-and-destory mission followed on by an armed occupation and the end of Hamas.

So the shit show has expanded. And it will progressively worsen as time goes on.

I don't think it has expanded or gotten worse. This is almost the same as what happened last time.

The issue being no peace settlement.Settlements and land grabs keep expanding.
Hamas gains ground with the Palestinians. Abbas having been shunted to the side by Israel. The anger has no way to go but up.
My opinion,Abbas is Israel's best hope to achieve a deal, from what I see Israel has thrown that aside. The present Govt does not want to deal.
Only time will tell if the violence in the WB increases.
I think it will.

Early Saturday, Hamas announced it would also abide by the 12-hour pause. Dead and wounded people are still believed to be trapped under rubble and in isolated villages along jagged front line that runs the length of Gaza Strip. Many families in Gaza have remained in battle zones for fear of moving.

The result would be a blood bath, thousands more dead.
Yep- That would work wonders.

This just in:

$1:
A U.S. official says Israel has declared a 12-hour-long cease-fire in Gaza for Saturday.

The pause in fighting would take effect 7:00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

So far as I know, the cease-fire is unilateral. I hope that Hamas is smart enough to not screw this up.

Both sides agreed.

An interesting story about Israel trying to seize farm land. It's a bit hard to read, given how unfairly and unjustly Israel has acted in this case.

Mad respect for Dr Mads Gilbert, who doesn't have to be there but chooses to be.

Nothing wrong with it, if your going siege that strip of land by land, sea and air and turn it into the worlds largest open air prison which it has been for the last seven years, don't be surprised when the "inmates" riot.

Israel is what happens when a whole society has PTSD and no one wants to talk about it because of the stigma.
