Sanctions don't mean much as Putin will not give a shit what the "west" thinks. He has all his buddies in North Korea, Iran, China and wherever else the scum reside to prop him up and supply whatever he wants. He also has an endless supply of his own people to force into battle (fight and be killed or go to prison and be killed) to achieve whatever his twisted and murderous goals are. The notion of Russia having an "election" next month is such a joke it's ridiculous for any media to even give it any coverage at all.

It's hard to believe it's been 2 years since those Russian assholes invaded Ukraine. It breaks my heart to see the constant destruction and needless murders of Ukrainian civilians for no fucking reason but Putin's desire to gain more property and control as if Russia isn't big enough as it is. This will not end anytime soon... R=EM

It is true that Putin in his palace isn't bother much by sanctions as long as he only stays there. In order for Russia to advance as a society and in technology however, they need to participate in the commons of the world economy or they are in danger of becoming a hermit kingdom ala North Korea and end up devolving into a feudal state. Sanctions take time to have an effect and the more of them the tighter the binds and deeper the damage to the fabric of society. It hurts us as well but it hurt them far more and we can withstand the downsides far more then he can.

The longer this goes on the worse it will get for Russia until their economy implodes. We are fighting a regime that had decades of stockpiles of equipment and manpower that may seem endless but their means to create goods has diminished. They went in with elite paratroopers and tank crews and are now sending human waves of conscripts.

Edit, the sanctions are now effecting third parties such as India and China and as such will be the breaking point. Going forward India and China must now choose what side they are on. They will not be choosing a loser.

Most Canadians think Putin will win if the west stops helping Ukraine
$1:
Bruce Anderson: “While with the passage of time, public enthusiasm for Canada’s contribution to Ukraine’s defense may have dimmed slightly, Canadians remain broadly convinced that Ukraine needs the help of the West in order to persevere, that Putin’s aggression will only grow if he wins the battle in Ukraine, and that Canada must maintain a commitment to support allies in resisting Putin’s aggression. Clearly there are some isolationist pressures within the Conservative movement in Canada, as in the United States, but the majority of Conservative voters remains of the view that Canada must continue to support Ukraine and resist Putin.

Still 17 billion short of our Nato commitment of 2% but it's in the right direction.
