The Bible and Quoran can be quote mined ad naseum to find no end of foolish laws, retarded rules, and just plain evil nastiness. The difference is more likely we are dealing with Western societies that are more secular and socially advanced while many of the Islamic cultures are still driven by dogmatic theology, tribalism, and clannishness.

I've always questioned the Hinduism influence I don't see any basic simularity between the two. Though I will admit I dont know that much about Hinduism. Of them all it seems Zoroastrinism is the most simular.
