I don't think that's the reason, EB.
Guess I've been outside Québec too long to think like that.
I've got Scottish blood in me and the part of France where my ancestors come from was settled by the celts way back when.
I'm just not the typical Québecer.
Was the Monarchy a slap in the face for French Canadians, is it not important anymore, or am I way off the track with this?

It's a different slant!
Scots are ok with the Windsors as there is a lot of Jock blood in the Crown.
I take it your crowd is from Brittany? Normans and all that.
I dunno mate. Personally I see a lot of movement in Canada to eradicate the Brit links by stealth, that bothers me.
We seem more interested in who got off the boat last week than who our ancestors are and those stories of the people who played a large part in building Canada.
It's like the UEL's. Have we forgotten the contribution loyal Americans made to our nation? It would appear so.
If you are Quebecois or First Nations, well we have government programs that ensure we all know how important you are to Canada.
I don't see the same with our English/Welsh/Irish/Scottish/UEL heritage. Especially our Welsh and English Canadians, and those pesky Yanks who fought for the mad King.
I always gravitate to things I think are not quite fair. I like to be a voice in the wilderness.
On your struggles with the monarchy....I dunno mate!
