Bodah Bodah: Zipperfish Zipperfish: I have an Iranian neighbour and he loves my dog. However, please don't let that interfere with "Those Wacky Iranians" propaganda campaign Don't worry, it wont since your anecdote about your neighbour in Canada has no bearing or relevance when it comes to fatwas being issued by top clerics in Iran that don't wont people enjoying dogs as companions because its to "western" like behaviour. The basis for the fatwa being issued is that the clerics think too many of the common folk are dog lovers. It's not a problem of the Iranian people, it's the sick fucks(clergy) that run their mosques.

A lot of clergy in this world are mentally Ill. Right wing Christian nuts such as Pat Robertson come to mind there are many others. This happens to be the ranting of one highly placed but one that needs some serious mental help. Don't the religious fundies of all stripes Christians and Muslims go off the deep end with these screwball Papal Bulls/Prophesies/fatwas/ect do their cause more harm by exposing it to criticism even ridicule? Or worse do some real harm to people.
There needs to be an outbreak of reason. Religion is supposed to comfort people not frighten them to death. Religions leaders leaders of the world take notice.

I still would like to know why people think its outrageous for Iran to ban dogs, but not for Calgary to ban chickens.
Besides the inevitable problems with young children being bitten by dangerous chickens of course.

Besides the inevitable problems with young children being bitten by dangerous chickens of course. Think a little. It's the basis of the banning. One is based on religious figures declaring the animal 'spiritually unclean' and the other is based on by-laws dealing with noise and health codes.

I have thought about it, that's why I asked the question. It makes no difference to me what the justification of opposing abortion funding is when the Harper government does that. Or when Rob Anders says we should spend foreign aid only if it promotes Christian values. Now you know how two thirds of the country feels every time the cons do this stuff. From a noise and health standpoint though. If religion was out of the picture, it would make more sense to ban dogs than chickens.

Zipperfish Zipperfish: Ah, thank you Hardly and Bacardi--you've now fulfilled two of the necessary preconditions of an effective propagnada campaign. First of all, the leaders of the enemy must be portrayed as insane. (Remember "So-damn insane). Second of all, the rank and file must be portrayed as subhuman (as per your "Muslims aren't like us; they're filthy"). Well done.
Now, to make this a complete propaganda campaign, you have to portary the imminent war as necessary (remember WMD in Iraq--soemthing like that; just cook up some intelligence). You have to convince people they are being attacked. And, of course, you have to denounce the pacifists. How is what I said propaganda when it is my experience of working with muslims. I think you need to go back to school and take a reading comprehension course. ![Bonk [bonk]](./images/smilies/bonk.gif)

Zipperfish Zipperfish: Bacardi4206 Bacardi4206: HaRdLy HaRdLy: Dog's are 99.9% cleaner then most Muslims I have had the smelly displeasure of working with. My mom has a lot of muslim co-workers at work, some who wear the hijab and some who don't. She told me there bathroom is a mess, that they take those plastic toilet seat coverings and place it on and she sais they don't sit down on them they balance themselves over it and sometimes miss the toilet doing this balance act. Worse of all, they always leave those plastic coverings on the toilet. There bathroom is a mess she tells me and the Scotiabank janitor is rather tired of it. Even worse of all, most don't eve wash there hands. Yes, all of them being muslim. Some probally immigrants. Welcome to Toronto I guess. I never stated all muslims did that, however that comment above mine made me remember something my mom told me of her work. I was just validating his point of view. I hardly see how a lot of muslim women who apparently trash there bathrooms which is infact more or less common in other work places as I had asked around after I commented on this. A lot of people have the same problem of there muslim co-workers not expressing proper hygene to the full extent and other really dirty things as listed above. Shit covered seats, those plastic seat covers always left on, piss covered seats, some not flushing, some not washing there hands. If stating what is common from the Toronto workplace point of view is propaganda, than so be it.

Any mild criticism of Islam these days will get you labled as a racist. Islamic Extreamist are not under a similar "restriction".
Truth is becoming propaganda if it's not Polically Correct.

GreenTiger GreenTiger: Any mild criticism of Islam these days will get you labled as a racist by ignorant fools who don't have the least firsthand experience with muslims in a muslim-majority country. Hope you don't mind a little editing. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

I realize that casual Muslim bigotry has become acceptable on these boards, but I'll call it every time I see it.

Truth is becoming propaganda if it's not Polically Correct. "Muslims stink" is not mild crticism, nor does it relate to the religion of Islam. It's base bigoty, and I'll call it everytime I see it.

Just a little point here, Zip. You need to ask why it is that Muslims get all offended if you eat with your left hand.
