"Right to exist" is a loaded phrase anyway. "Right to self-defense" is much more correct to apply to Israel. Their responses to Palestinian terrorism might have been increasing in levels of violence, but one has to remember that these are responses to incessant terror attacks that are almost always aimed at Israeli civilians. In light of this it becomes exceedingly difficult to feel much sympathy when Muslim civilians get clobbered right back in response by Israel. I know that I don't sympathize very much with any of them at all. If the Palestinians don't like the current situation then they should have thought twice about killing off the pro-peace Israeli left-wing with all their attacks on Jewish civilians during the last intefadeh. If they hadn't, and if they hadn't started lobbing rockets into Israel from almost the very moment the Jews formally vacated the Gaza Strip, then none of this would be going on right now today.
*Note: I pick neither side*
How would you feel if a country from another part of the world suddenly told you to leave land your people have occupied for thousands of years to make way for a group that they don't want themselves? European countries have gone to war for less than that the only difference is that at least those countries recognized eachother and were willing to negotiate. Palestine was ignored and forced to leave their land, they acted in the only way that they had left was violence to try and regain land that was stolen.
Neither side has proven willing to compromise even to the extent of creating a actual Palestine state so that a peaceful resolution can be made. Trying to pick who was right is like trying to pick between Russia and USA during the cold war, both sides suck.
