The irony is that any true christian would acknowledge that only their god has the divine knowledge to answer that question and they were unworthy to judge a person for that.

"judge not lest ye be judged"

 Sweet fancy moses, I believe I said something quite similar back in our "Hitler was/wasn't a Christian" discussions.

Except that you were attempting to mitigate the reality in light of the overwhelming evidence.

"OK OK, all the evidence shows he was as christian as anybody else on the surface but only god really knows ......".

Of course that point doesn't alter the premise of the argument nor its salient points.

"Right to exist" is a loaded phrase anyway. "Right to self-defense" is much more correct to apply to Israel. Their responses to Palestinian terrorism might have been increasing in levels of violence, but one has to remember that these are responses to incessant terror attacks that are almost always aimed at Israeli civilians. In light of this it becomes exceedingly difficult to feel much sympathy when Muslim civilians get clobbered right back in response by Israel. I know that I don't sympathize very much with any of them at all. If the Palestinians don't like the current situation then they should have thought twice about killing off the pro-peace Israeli left-wing with all their attacks on Jewish civilians during the last intefadeh. If they hadn't, and if they hadn't started lobbing rockets into Israel from almost the very moment the Jews formally vacated the Gaza Strip, then none of this would be going on right now today.

*Note: I pick neither side*

How would you feel if a country from another part of the world suddenly told you to leave land your people have occupied for thousands of years to make way for a group that they don't want themselves? European countries have gone to war for less than that the only difference is that at least those countries recognized eachother and were willing to negotiate. Palestine was ignored and forced to leave their land, they acted in the only way that they had left was violence to try and regain land that was stolen.

Neither side has proven willing to compromise even to the extent of creating a actual Palestine state so that a peaceful resolution can be made. Trying to pick who was right is like trying to pick between Russia and USA during the cold war, both sides suck.

How was it stolen? The land that the Jews held in 1948 had been bought and paid for over several decades. They held the land titles to the land from the local Ottoman authorities and then the British. Arab land owners sold the land to the Jewish settlers. Most of the displaced were tenant farmers, so the real criminals were other Arabs. The rest of the land they won, when they defended themselves from Arabs trying to launch a second Holocaust in 1948.....to the victor goes the spoils.

For how long though? Time after time they choose expansion over peace. They aren't buying land anymore, they're taking it, building security fences and checkstops on it, then taking more land outside of them and building settlements on that to justify a new security fence.

Israel is actively pushing Palestine into the sea, regardless of what anybody else threatens to do.

Violence is never an option... and it will get you nowhere.

They returned the Sinai, they pulled IDF troops out of the West Bank, and Gaza, removing settlements. Yet the Arabs ask for more.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/08/israel-construction-settlement-west-bank http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/08/israel-construction-settlement-west-bank:
Monday 8 March 2010

Israel approves more construction in West Bank settlement

Approval to build 112 new flats in Beitar Illit comes despite Israeli government's partial curbs on settlement construction

The temporary curbs did not apply to east Jerusalem, public buildings or around 3,000 flats whose construction was already under way.

Last week, another plan for 600 new flats

Not true.

I wish Israel wasn't all Jews and nothing but Jews so people could judge the behavior of the only nuclear armed nation in the middle east without being called Anti-Semitic and compared to Hitler and some generic Terrorist groups.

Thanks for sharing this little tidbit. It only confirms that you have no clue as to what makes up the state of Israel.

True, but his point is still valid. Criticizing Israel doesn't make someone an anti-semite or a terrorist.
