So if the policy against women joining the military can be changed, than why not the "no sex policy"? Policies come and go.Policies against women joining the military, women serving on ships, submarines, and combat aircraft.Policies declaring segregated militaries [remember those?].All these policies were fought for by the military. They were essential to disipline and morale.[That way of thinking is still being used to keep homosexuals out of the U.S. military].All those policies have gone the way of the calvary charge, and yet the military is still able to perform its function.
Its funny how the military branches want the latest in military technology, but want thier people to live in Camelot.Any talk of change is met with resistance and the battlecry of "tradition".Wearing a bright red jacket to battle was once a tradition as well,I do not see anyone advocating its return.
I am against fraternization as I have stated previously in this thread, but sex between consenting adults of equal rank is no one else's business.Calling it a tradition is living in the past, and short sighted. You can fight human nature all you want, you will lose.Look at the birth rates for unwed mothers in all those Catholic countries in Latin America where you are supposed to wait untill you are married to have sex.See how well that is working out.
Imagine a highly decorated soldier, willing to fight and die for his country. He gets discharged for having sex with a consenting adult of equal rank, not under his command. His career is cut short for being human? I'm sorry but thats lame.It is time to change this policy.Stop ending careers for being human.
This point has been argued to death, you cant have sex with someone while you are on deployment. You cant fuck someone while your at work in any other job why should the military be special. If you want to fuck your fire team partner, fine:
finish your tour, get a bucket of lube and ram each other till it falls off. That is perfectly legal in the CF, just dont do it on tour.
