So the Bill Iggy voted for in the fall session dealing with tougher sentences for your old work mates, drug traffickers, he's now going to vote against?

Your losing me with your drug dealers logic yappy.

Curtman Curtman:
EyeBrock EyeBrock:
When Harper appoints new Tory Senators for the next session, the Bill that Liberal MP's voted for can't be obstructed by Liberal Senators any longer.

Hence the prorogue. Yawn.

Now run along and yap at somebody else.

So what exactly are you disagreeing with? The cons will reintroduce the bill. They have a minority. We put pressure on our MP's to vote against it. Minority government's bill fails without support from the opposition.

I spoke with Anita Neville about this at the Winnipeg rally organization meeting this morning. She assures me that the Liberal party is hearing that message from its members. Sadly, she is the only MP who showed up. I'll bet she was surprised to find that nobody in the room was a big fan of the Liberal party either.

Now run along and find something to yap about.

And you're naive enough to think that your Liberal MP's give a rats ass what you people think? You actually think Iggy will self implode (again) and vote for something he's already supported? While it's a good possibility, I hope he wouldn't be that stupid.

Look at what they've done to the party over the last 12 months and that should be a clear example of how they've listened to nobody but themselves.

Yes. The point is to pressure the opposition to vote the way we want them to, not the way they do now. Which is based on whether or not they choose to "support" or "not support" the government at any given time. Vote on the issues based on how they fit the policy of the Liberal party, not how they fit the popularity polls at the time.

The focus of the meeting though was on the prorogue issue, and how we can put and end to it. A simple way to avoid this is to make it law that member of the house have to vote to prorogue, instead of leaving the decision to one man, and the person he appoints.

That is something I think this group of almost 130,000 people can push as a message, and have a shot at having it implemented by our "honest and open" government.

Just out of curiosity, can someone refresh my memory as to why the Liberals had FOUR prorogues during their reign of stupidity?

I guess I'm naive enough to think that Iggy probably should step in line with the membership of the party or his visit will be over. Its up to the Liberal party to get the message out to him that we do not support mandatory minimums. We do not support more prohibition, we support regulation instead.

The point you're missing is that this is a non partisan issue. The people at the organization meeting were all in agreement that we would not accept support from political groups, and if they show up at our rally we should do our best to sequester them from our group.

You can either choose to support prorogation in the hands of one man or not support it. As a Liberal, a Conservative, or a whatever.

Way to avoid answering a direct question. I see you're practicing for a career in politics

No confidence vote Liberals please.

The hypocrisy of all this is amazing. You guys in the Commons voted for all these Bills but they got blocked by a Liberal Senate.

You guys under Chretien prorogued FOUR times but when Harper does it you say it's an abuse of parliament and a dictatorship. Keep on that argument, I’m sure it will win you votes.

Vote the Budget down and see how well you do in a General Election.

Oh you wanted a more direct answer?

Prorogation is the act of cowards. They do it to avoid answering for their actions.

Stephen Harper, Canadian Press, April 18, 2005 Stephen Harper, Canadian Press, April 18, 2005:
When a government starts trying to cancel dissent or avoid dissent is frankly when it’s rapidly losing its moral authority to govern.

This is an issue we can all get behind and drop the partisan bullshit. Why do you keep insisting it stay?

So the Tories are cowards twice and the Liberals are cowards four times?

You're trying to make me defend the Liberals for using the same tactic. I won't do it. I am against it, and I want to do something about it.

Sorry to burst yer bubble but I'm a non-partisan when it comes to politics. Btw, I never said I agreed with this prorogue. I just find it rather telling that some of the people that didn't even say boo when The Cretin prorogued parliament are suddenly all up in a lather about this time. I'm not one of those "well they did so we should be able to as well" people. I'm one of those "why are you (not you specifically) bitching about the very same thing you supported when YOUR party did it?", people.

How do you know what I said when Chretien was Prime Minister? To be quite honest with you, I wasn't aware it happened at the time, not because I didn't follow politics but I don't remember it being made an issue. Maybe it takes being on the other side of it to see what a dick move it is.

Just to directly answer your last question, MY party doesn't exist.. I finally got the Liberal banner up there on the avatar, because thats the party that I see as best having the chance to keep the Republican Canadians out of office. I honestly believe that's the only thing the Liberal party has going for it right now, that they aren't Conservatives.

*sigh* I guess you missed the part where I said not YOU specifically. That last question applies to every politcal party and their respective partisan sheep. You know, the ones that believe their party can do no wrong while the other party can never do anything right.
Your last comment reminds me a cyclical joke. What's worse than a Conservative PM? A Liberal PM. And what's worse than a Liberal PM? A Conservative PM.

But thats where you are wrong. At our meeting, we asked Anita Neville why the Liberals were so quiet on this issue. You keep saying its the Liberals who are making a big to-do about nothing. It's not. The anti-prorogation group includes Liberals AND Conservatives AND New Democrats AND Greens, AND whoever else wants it to stop.

The Liberals aren't doing enough. The NDP isn't doing anything. Nobody knows what the Bloc is doing. We're doing this ourselves.
