Brenda Brenda:
It is also our right to not wanting to be confronted with it everyday. Maybe just because of the same reason...

It is only your right if it breaks a municipal by-law, in such case you need to appeal to the municipality, it is not your right to take care of it your self. That is the point of this thread, a memorial was desecrated.

Yes, a Canadian flag is SO offensive. Might as well piss on the graves of our forefathers who built this country

It wasn't just a Canadian flag. If it was, how come it was a memorial? Lots of people have a flag.

Yeah but only 118 or so are unlucky enough to have lost a child in uniform (in this generation)

To think that our soldiers put their lives on the line and die for scum like this sickens me.

More irrational hyperbole.

Not one of “our” soldiers is putting their lives on the line for anyone back here. They’re not sacrificing their lives for anyone. They getting killed trying to fulfill a political goal in a foreign country that may not be ready for it.

I like that. A nicely prepared rational response to valid point by someone else.

Take a pill. How do you get to "pissing on our forefathers graves"?

There is about 4 pages of rational responses prior to you joining in, read'em all.

Or maybe we should all erect such memorials on our front lawns?

Well if you are ever unfortunate enough to have the cards dealt to you that she had to her, that would be your right to do, after all her son wore a uniform and was prepared to defend that right.

how about mothers who have lost babies? People who lost a parent? Sibling?

Or is it just soldiers who "deserve" to be memorialized in such a fashion?

Once again, if it doesn't break a municipal by-law any one can do it. To each their own.

Ok, hands up everyone that thinks a mother should be allowed to breast feed anywhere she pleases.

Now hands up anyone that thinks that mother should be allowed to memorialize her child on her own property.

Pull your head out of your ass, fucking conspiracy theorist.
Yeah heaven forbid boots on the ground in a country whose "government" permitted terrorists to come and go freely, and plan and launch attacks against the West. Funny how since we've been there North America only needs to worry about High School students "terrorizing" their schools, or gutless pukes desecrating our flag.

Brenda Brenda:

'God' doesn't have anything to do with this . I only used 'God' and 'church' in reference to the fact that you are, by your own admission an Athiest. You pass by several churches and buildings used for worship on a daily basis.

If such edifices offend you, what do you do as you pass by? If they don't, then why would you find a memorial offensive? Just curiosity on my part.

:?
Me being an Atheist or an immigrant, or a white woman has nothing to do with any of this.
I have no problem with churches, locals or black men.

I do have a problem with people hanging a memorial on a tree at the playground of my kids school, because their child, who attended the same school, drowned in the river. I was not the only one, and the principal has asked the parents to remove it.

I guess that the point that I was trying to make here is that as an Athiest, whenever you pass by a 'house of worship' do you avert your gaze for a moment until you are passed the building? If so, that would be the most likely way to handle passing by a memorial if it bothers you. If you are not bothered by the sight of a 'house of worship' then why does a roadside memorial bother you? I agree that roadside memorials should not be left for more than a couple of weeks. The memorials do serve a dual purpose though. They allow those who knew the deceased a chance to feel 'a bit closer' to their friend/family as this was where they spent their last moment on earth. ( Personally, I have never put up or visited one of these memorials. It was 'explained' to me by a couple of people wh have). The other purpose of the memorial is to give everyone else who sees it a quick reminder to reflect on their own driving habits.

In the case of the mother who placed a memorial in the playground, when her child died elsewhere. Totally inappropriate! However, had the child fallen off the slide and died right there, a memorial would have had a profound effect on the children as a reminder to 'Be Careful, You can get badly hurt or worse playing games'!

That is fine, the school is not the parents property

Yes. The world is coming to an end and the likes of you will save us all. Idiot.

Your "gutless pukes" shouldn't have "desecrated" the flag.

The mother should have taken into account the feelings of her neighbours.

That pretty much covers it.

there has been an outpouring of tears and cards from her community and across the country.
I would say her neighbours have no problem with her.

It was just lilly and Brenda, and a couple of gutless pukes that did. But they seem to be getting a following

There was no mention in the article about her neighbours being offended. All we know is that someone desecrated a memorial on her lawn. How did you make that leap?

Lily and Brenda are not to be lumped in with the gutterslime that did this. They are not condoning the acts and its in extreme poor taste to say they did.
