It ticks me off that the home made or you-brew places never get more support in times like this.. but considering that most people can't even make their own coffee anymore, I don't know why I should be suprised.

.. aw but what the hell.. it's just a little bit more tax.

$1:
Taxes cost Canadians more than homes do
OTTAWA - Canadian families pay more in personal taxes than they do on either shelter or food, and spend more on their pets than they do on child care.

yes indeed, We pay almost 50% of out income to taxes. No party in Canada would make any real change to that number. It feels like we are government ATMs.

Income tax is 20%. As to any other tax, that is your decision regarding purchases and negotiation etc. as to what you pay.

The 50% is an average including all provincial taxes, GST, Gas tax, property etc etc. For some people it is lower and some higher, but even 20% income tax is way to high.

Only if you have lots of disposable income to spend and are busy spending it.

Is that some form of: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" crap? So it's our fault for making too much money, for working too hard and wanting to succeed?

It's simply too much taxes.

We don't pay to much in taxes. We may suffer a little in comparison to the US but we pay as much if not less then places like Australia and the UK.

Funny how we hear all about how our healthcare is in crisis, our roads are crumbling, and our military is woefully underfunded at the same time people bitch about taxes.

Want to pay less taxes? Fine. We'll just eliminate the military altogether or perhaps you would elimnate education.

Just like Indian affairs and so many other government run programs, the money isn't getting to where it can do the most good.

How about we eliminate all the stupid liberal programs, privatize health care (pay for your own) and make the political parties pay their own way.

Oh that’s right, the liberals and bloc would blow away over night if we did this. Well we can start by cutting the CBC’s umbilical cord to the billion dollars they suck from us. I have a feeling we will see a couple more ways to improve Canada before the 20th of Jan, and a bunch more crying from the liberals. [cry]

So you say. Every country says that. Every company says that. That was a constant complaint in every place I've ever worked. My lab bitched that they weren't getting the money needed to improve it. The nurses complained they weren't. Radiology complained they didn't have enough equipment.

I have no reason to doubt anywhere else is any different.

The bottom line is that unless you want a complete user fee system which includes where people simply donate as much or little as they
d like to the DND budget then some of your taxes will be spent on things you dislike.

How much of the billions we are spending in Afghanistan do you think actualy make it ddown to the people its intended for?

I guess Chretien and Martin should have thought of the cost when they put us there?

Considering it was Hillier advocating it I'd say he is more to blame not to mention those CPCers like yourself who demanded Canada not only fall in line with the US over Afghanistan but also help them invade Iraq I think we can lay the blame at your feet as well.

People who would have turned around and attacked Chretien for not sending troops to Afghanistan like they did when he kept us out of Iraq deserve all the guilt for putting us their.

BTW, nice of you to blame Martin even though Martin simply kept the troops there, a position no different from Harper.

You usual level of fairness again.

Since you are so concerned about your tax dollars not being wasted then why are you not incensed that Harper cancelled the Liberal SAR replacement purchase plans only to realize how badly they were needed a year later and be forced to repurchase the exact same order only thid time with an additional 200 million tacked on?

200 million wasted because he wanted to play the political card.

Hillier or the voters didn't put us there or move us.
That was Chretien and Martin.

If you can't accept the blame, don't keep bringing it up.

Hypocrite hack.

Iraq and Iggy both start with I and don't you forget it. :P
