you know they've used the risk of supply as a reason for boosting prices, right?

well, we have a real honest to goodness supply issue here, so I interested in seeing if the raise their prices.

And, I'm interested to see if the other companies raise their prices, too. ( even though it isn't their supply problem)

Here's a link.

http://www.cppi.ca/Refining_Marketing_Distribution.html

The article reports there are 17 refineries in Canada. HOWEVER since 1970 25 refineries in Canada have been shut down. WTF?

PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2008 2:50 pm

While 25 refineries in Canada have closed since 1970, the remaining refineries produce more products more efficiently through new technologies and processes, advanced equipment, and additional capacity. Refining is a capital intensive business based on producing large volumes of products. The cost to build a new refinery is estimated at about $2 billion and the refinery would have to meet rigorous environmental standards and public scrutiny. The newest Canadian refinery, located in Alberta, started production in 1984.

You.. could pass some of the blame on the eco-errorists

Trust me, you're the minority in Halifax. I know lots of folks from back east, and most have a very negative view of Albertans.

Besides, WTF makes you think that any province can just decide to vote to seperate. A separation of a province would take a vote from the Nation as a whole as it would effect everyone.

Alberta votes to leave, a dirty bomb will be blasted off the next day on the oil sands.

What anti-west sentiment in the Maritimes? MOST people in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland are going through the same battle with Ottawa but it's over offshore rights for gas and oil. Don't believe me, send a letter to our Premier Rodney MacDoanld or Newfoundland's Danny Williams!

Esso's parent company Exxon has an annual revenue higher than all but 38 of the worlds countries. It's kind of curious why they haven't put any of those billions back into new refineries. It's an excellent way of keeping the price artificially high.

I just came from town and Esso now has no gas, only diesel, all the other stations are good. They have signs up blaming it on the Straconna refinery.
