The North Atlantic in November is not very sunny place. And there are several storms going on currently, so the wind is blowing in about a hundred different directions It will have a conventional backup.

They could sail to Europe, I'll just take a 2 to 3 weeks without a engine.

Probably has life vests too. It would be silly to not have such things, even if you never use them.

What do you want her to do cross the ocean in a Viking ship? I don't agree with her agenda but I will give her credit for practicing ( to the best of her ability) what she preaches.

Ditto.

I do not begrudge her modern conveniences and backup systems, if her primary goal is to hold to her values.

It's always fun to watch the well-connected to play and have fun and to do the things that wealth or access to wealth grants them, even though none of the rest of us will have any opportunity to do the same things in our entire lives. Thunberg is a celebrity, essentially a Klimate Kardashian.

I would love to see her cross in a longboat. Provided he raped and pillaged along the way; like the shield maidens of yore.

No, someone asked what the ship was made of, I replied, tried to make it sound like the ship she was taking left no carbon footprint, and all I did was point out basic requirements require the ship to have an engine. I don't care how she crosses, I was trying to be the pragmatist and point out those engines will be engaged at some point otherwise that trip is going to suck. hard.

That's what they're expecting. They've ballparked it at 2-4 weeks.

I just don't get why it having an engine matters? What point are you attempting to make?

Can I have your crystal ball? Or are we just claiming something that might happen in the future to be a sure thing now.

Tell the kids in Extinction Rebellion that they'll have to pay an extra $500 per iPhone to cover the cost of the month(s)-long cargo-by-catamaran shipping as opposed to the traditional oil-fueled ocean travel that would get it from China to North America and onto the store shelves in less than a week. And then make Amazon ship everything by electric-car ground-transport too, so orders take two weeks to arrive instead of in a couple of days. As good as the hip youth are at virtue-signalling their smug superiority over how "easy" it will be to entire revamp the world economy will die out quickly if they have to wait for too long for their toys and gadgets to get into their hands.

I like the cut of your jib!

Actually, cell phones are very bad for the environment. I think that's why Greta doesn't have one. At least, none that I have been able to find.
