Other than SA, we aren't rubbing anyone's noses in anything. I can agree that the photo-op with Freeland wasn't needed, but a statement from the PMO would have been appropriate.

That news conference is exactly what I mean by 'rubbing their noses in it'. Freeland with her arm around the girl, the girl wearing a 'Canada' pullover (and bare legs in Winter! ). Total political farce.

No. Anyone backed into a corner will come out fighting. Getting SA to change is a good thing, but they have been taking a lot of heat lately. It might have been smarter for us to accept her, without the press conference on her arrival as we've gained a bit of credibility since our twitter eruption that no one backed us up on, followed by SA murdering journalists that everyone condemns.

Saudi Arabia isn't going to attack us, that's suicide for them. They've already fucked the oil market for us. What are they going to do? Stop buying equipment we don't want to sell to them?

Tunisia is still a democracy, albeit with difficulties. Nobody expected this to be an easy win. The Arab Spring will take generations to finish. However, tyrants like El-Sisi, Assad and MBS sleep less soundly because of it.
