Prof_Chomsky Prof_Chomsky: llama66 llama66: The liberals are out of touch, the Conservatives are out of touch, the NDP has returned to the Alexa McDonough days of irrelevance.... There needs to be a major 4th party and maybe Mad Max's new party (with hookers and blackjack) can be that party. I like Trudeau... but if that lying fucker had kept his campaign promise of changing our electoral system, we wouldn't need to vote along party lines. You could vote for who you actually liked. I do not disagree with this.

The problem is that Canadians don't care. They're happy enough with the bizarre effects of FPTP.

I mean, all things considered we enjoy one of the best places to live on the planet. We routinely score what, top 3? Saying we need/deserve a "Trump" is like saying someone with a splinter in their foot needs a good dose of Ebola...

Sorry Canada needs a Trump to C**t Punt the Establishment because as it's been pointed out politicians on all sides are incompetent, lazy and out of touch. If Maxime can bring Conservatives and Liberals together who have had it with the system shaking things up the sooner the better.

If Bernier can bring all the narcissistic assholes like himself together that would be great. Specially if it were all in one place where one bomb would do the trick.

Canada doesn't need an incompetent person like Trump to flush out the already incompetent people we have in office. Lazy, out of touch and incompetent are Trump's 3 most endearing qualities. America can keep those types of people and their spray tans.

No, but we need someone who is not afraid to shake the establishment. Mad Max could be it.

Statesmen are relics of a by-gone era. Sadly. I'd love a PM that can bridge both sides of the aisle, I trying to think of the last PM to be bi-partisan. Pearson? MacKenzie-King?

It's our system. I can't believe for a second that every Canadian alive wouldn't embrace another FDR. Outspoken. Educated. Does the right thing because it's right. But, in order to even get a chance to lead a party that is in contention now you need funding, and the consent of that same party. Mixed Member Proportional. There's at least a partial answer.

FPTP is a retarded system. I've wanted proportional representation pretty much my entire ("adult") life.

Statesmen are relics because people who could be them don't want anything to do with politics. They just don't want to deal with the toxicity. There are people on this forum who I think would do a better job of bridging the gap than most politicians. Honestly I feel like the problem stems from 99% of politicans being lawyers. They are educated in an adversarial profession, why are we surprised when they are adversarial? Obviously there are lawyers that can be good politicians, but I think a more even representation of highly educated professions would do a lot of good. Scientists, Doctors, Engineers (of all disciplines), Programmers, mathematicians. These people deal with facts and logic and try to do away with rhetoric. Except programmers, they have irrational feelings about other "languages" than their own
