Parents' fury as their ten-year-old son is kicked off overbooked Air Canada flight WITHOUT them - forcing them to give up their own seats and drive hundreds of miles to catch another flight for dream vacation

Brett and Shanna Doyle of Prince Edward Island were headed to their Costa Rica vacation with sons Cole and Simon
An Air Canada agent told them the flight was overbooked and Cole, 10, was being bumped
His parents and other adults tried to switch places with Cole to no avail
The family went to a different airport to catch a flight all together but that was then cancelled
The family drove over two hours to Halifax, stayed overnight in a hotel, and caught another flight
Brett says the airline offered 'zero assistance'
Air Canada ended up compensating the family $2,500 but Brett says that is only after the media got involved

There have been other stories as well.

It's time for the airlines to stop the overbooking nonsense.

This.

And all they have to do is to simply bring back their old policy which said if you missed the plane your ticket was non-refundable.

It's like the airlines don't want the business anymore..

$1:
Delta throws a passenger off a plane because he used the bathroom during a 30-minute delay on the tarmac in latest PR nightmare for US airlines

Kima Hamilton was booked to fly from Atlanta to Milwaukee for work on April 18
The 39-year-old used the bathroom during a delay because he 'couldn't hold it'
After doing so, he was told he had to get off the plane because he broke protocol
Eventually the plane was forced back to its gate and all passengers had to get off

Airlines have gotten too 'egotistical', thinking they can dictate services and policy, and people have no choice but to comply.

We can. We can still vote with our wallet. My company wanted to send me to Boston for the Red Hat conference next week, but I refuse to travel to the US because of all the hassle that involves.

United Airlines reaches settlement with Dr. David Dao for undisclosed amount after he was left bloodied and bruised from being dragged off flight

Dr. David Dao received a settlement from United Airlines it was announced on Thursday after being dragged off a flight in Chicago on April 9
The amount Dr. Dao is receiving from the airline is not being disclosed and will remain confidential per details of the settlement agreement
Dr. Dao, 69, has yet to give his own firsthand account of what happened and likely never will, having no doubt signed a non-disclosure agreement
He broke his nose, lost two teeth and suffered a 'severe concussion' when he was dragged off a flight by a Chicago police officer
The incident was captured in videos and photos taken by fellow passengers, that show Dao being manhandled by authorities and with blood covering his face
'That first response was insensitive beyond belief. It did not represent how I felt,' said Unitred CEO Oscar Munoz, who unveiled company changes on Thursday

Well, they managed to fuck up again. Apparently this woman breeds giant rabbits in Britain. She shipped one via United to a customer in the US. The rabbit died in the plane's cargo hold. Then, before she could get the body back, they cremated it without her permission so now she can't have the vet do an autopsy on the bunny to see what killed it. Lawsuit's impending from both the breeder and the customer, yadda yadda yadda. Sad to see that they treat animals in cargo and humans in the passenger cabin equally deplorably.

Sorry. Gallows humour and such.
