shockedcanadian shockedcanadian:
I suppose that's the beauty of open media versus state run CBC.

And yet, it's been the CBC revealing the things Thanos describes.

Like I said, just stop typing man . . .

Thanos Thanos:
In the US the people would have had their backyards laced with PCB's like at Love Canal and have it ignored for thirty years until the childhood cancer rate became too much for even the Reagan administration to avoid.

We know environmental accidents don't occur in Canada.

I certainly know how we protect, defend and honour human rights also...

Dumping toxic waste in someone's backyard because you're too cheap to dispose of it properly and because your lobbying efforts have gutted the regulations that would make you dispose of it properly isn't an "accident". It's a deliberate act of evil based in selfishness and greed.

You are forced to carry insurance on Ontario homes, not sure about Alberta. Yet, you suggest these companies are "screwing people anyway they can", much easier to do so when you don't have stiff competition or real government regulations that protect consumers. Doesn't scream trust does it?

As for CBC carrying the McMurray fires, I saw this tragedy being covered on Fox and CNN. Quite a task to try and avoid covering such an incident. It would seem to be just as easy to cover the aftermath and hardship some are facing with receiving proper compensation, but alas...

Just a side note/question. The place we were talking about a month ago with all the homes burned down. I don't recall the towns name. Will all the above actually make it even harder on them and any reconstruction more expensive?

Fort McMurray. Between the local construction hassles, the banks/insurance companies screwing people every way they can, things like sudden massive tariffs on drywall, and portions of the neighbourhoods suddenly being turned into brownfields because of all the soil contamination from burnt plastics and metals, the rebuilding has turned into a disaster. One of those stories that disappeared off the radar as soon as the flames were out.

Thanks for answering and explaining. would +5 you but not an option. [B-o]
