I notice that they're not going to try running her around here, again (she's in the riding beside Lisa Raitt's ... and her's is beside us.) They'll find a nice "Metrosexual" riding near downtown Toronto and not out here in the big, solid blue ring around them.

andyt andyt: Fine have your snit. I was differentiating between you and OTI. But what ev. Your problem, andy, is that you label anyone who's noted interest in a political party the same way. Zip maybe for or against some Liberal policies and I am for an against some of the CPC policies, but in your mind...everyone is just 'toeing the party line'. Maybe you think like that....but we don't. And for once...stand up for the things you say. Don't back peddle.

Harper wanted her out anyway, as she'd been acting like such an idiot over the riding split, as detailed in the story here from the Mother Corp. $1: According to sources, she also assured the prime minister that she and her fiancé, Dimitri Soudas, were finished.
The sources said Harper leaned toward Adams and told her he knew Soudas was sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for her. He then informed her that the party's national council deals with nominations and, with that, the meeting was concluded. Yup, just a ridiculous repeat of the Guergis/Jafer nonsense, minus the coke-snorting allegations and screaming insults at the 'little people' in an airport somewhere. Tories are better off without her and the Libs are more than welcome to have her.

NO back peddling involved. You of course are trying to say you know better what my meaning was than I do. I was very clear that Zip working for the libs is not being dogmatic, defending the CPC at every turn is. So far the one policy you've disagreed with of theirs is their end of life stance, but no criticism of that stand. Are you really Ok with the CPC shenanigans that Dr Caleb posts here every other day? Abrogation of civil rights, using the CRA to go after enemies, shutting down scientists and scientific research, etc? I'll believe you have an open mind when I really see you pounding the cpc for something. I mean surely in 9 years they've done something you really didn't agree with?

Just goes to show how much you've actually read over the last 9 years. I do agree with a lot of what the CPC does but I also fundamentally disagree with them on many issues. Abortion and end of life are just two. I don't defend the CPC at every turn and had you spent less time trolling and looking for reactions, you'd know that.

Looks like this caused the effect many assumed would happen within the Liberal Party.
It appears Eve plans to run in a riding already occupied by Liberal Michael Cole who's already trashed the idea of her joining the party and said that will happen “over my dead body,”
Well done, Justin.

He wants someone who doesn't make him look like the biggest flake in the party.

Not to give JT too much credit but if he put her in a riding where she's pretty much guaranteed to lose then he kind of did take the strategically smart path to quickly get rid of her. If it ends up getting rid of a known troublemaker, and her embarrassing boyfriend too, then it's worth the cost of losing a riding where they probably weren't going to do all that well anyway. It gets her out of the House, out of the party, and on to the where-are-they-now? circuit with the likes Jag Bhaduria, Garth Turner, Belinda Stronach, and Helena Guergis.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: He wants someone who doesn't make him look like the biggest flake in the party. I still think he wanted someone who could exchange hair care tips with.

They all seem obligated to make any defection seem like some kind of ultimate victory. Floor-crossing is the ultimate 'haha, gotcha!' moment in the existential idiocy of Canadian politics. It's childish, and the floor-crossers rarely make any kind of a difference at all (exception David Emerson) because they're usually just fringe players and seat fillers, but the obligation to the media circus is to pretend that it's equivalent to winning over 200 seats.
They probably think that Soudas is going to give them all sorts of dirt. Considering he's about a half-tick above being a jailbird himself they're wildly overestimating his value to them. He's just another one of the grifters that attach themselves to politics and in the end will be about as significant a character as Rahim Jafer turned out to be.
