Given that across the planet drinking water could be so potentially lethal due to all the voracious microbes and bacteria infesting it, at least until the last hundred years or so when water-treatment systems became more commonplace, brewing and distilling enabled human life to thrive by providing a source of liquid moisture that had the impurities cooked out of it. No beer, no booze, no wine equals a badly truncated human civilization. The hilarious effect of getting hammered off of it was just a happy side-effect and not the main purpose. All you need is one disease-ridden animal corpse rotting away in a small community's drinking water and you can effectively put that community to an end from all the contamination-related deaths that will happen.

$1:
Back in the old days, when beer was first made, it was made because the water was absolutely filthy. They couldn’t drink the water because they’d get all sorts of nasty diseases. By adding alcohol it meant that a lot of the bacteria was killed.
Beer in the old days was very mild. It was maybe half a percent, so you could basically drink it all day long without it having much of an effect, much like shandy that you buy now in a tin can.
Modern Beer
Modern day beer is a lot stronger than that. The average beer nowadays is 4 or 5 percent. So the answer to the question “Does it hydrate or dehydrate you?” is that it actually dehydrates you.
It’s actually thought that if you drink 200 ml of beer, that you don’t just urinate 200 ml of water. You actually urinate 320 ml of water, which is a 120 ml of dehydration.

The THC level in contemporary pot is also significantly higher than it is in the wild all-natural variety or even in what the hippies originated back in the 1960's. And the link to chronic pot use exacerbating mental and emotional health issues has also been concretely established. All fun things are bad in their own way.

That's the second level, only for people who can handle moderation in the first place.

I've not seen these add's but from what I'm reading they sound like they come off sounding like a hard hitting news bite or just utterly corny? Is this the right impression?
