haha, I don't see India going anywhere soon on that matter. Their Supreme Court upheld the British colonial era anti-sodomy laws.
That, their caste system legacy, rape culture and other stuff make that society decades away from evolving to Western norms.
As far as China, my understanding from talking to Chinese gay guys here in Vancouver is the culture is very "don't ask/don't tell" on gay family members. This is partly because of the priority on having a male child over a female child to look after the parents in their retirement and the former one-child policy.
Imagine that awful pressure if you're the only son in a Chinese family and are gay. A family friend from Taiwan has bin with his partner for 20 years but everytime he goes back to China/Taiwan he steps back into this glass closet with relatives. They all know and he doesn't really hide it. But it isn't talked about.
Asia has a whole other set of cultural norms that will take time to balance out to allow an environment for LGBT equality.
