Interesting little sidebar with no real point attached. Did you know York was where "slutwalks" began?

Perhaps I have been out of school and away from pop culture too long but what the #%^,? isa "slutwalk?"

Its an awareness campaign agsinst this type of attitude. Womens groups organize a march through the streets, particit are encouraged to dress in 'slutty' outfits.

To NFS question, IIRC the Toronto cops go around and hold these 'outreach' talks regularly but the York visit in question may have occurred in response to a sexual assault occurrence. Not sure what his point is though - most if not all of the perpetrators had no connection to the school.

You know what they never get into when they tell that story though? I just thought of it. Why did the two cops decide to come to York to give the rape protection speech? Was it part of a wider program, or was York singled out. If so, why?

Jesus fucking Christ you're a sleazebag. You've learned well from your ideological masters in Fox. What's exactly is your insinuation here? You don't think the cops talked to UBC students about rape awareness during the last little rape spree they had there? And the same accusations were hurled at cops and administrators, that they were blaming the victim by suggesting how women can keep themselves safe. Rape protection programs are in place at any uni, because unis are places of high incidence of rape - many potential victims, many hormones. And what the fuck does any of this have to do with the topic at hand.

You're just hell bent on slamming York, because the think the student that made the original request is Muslim. Could as easily be an Orthodox Jew, the religion of the student has not been made public, but in the latter case we wouldn't hear peep out of you.

Well no. She's getting paid for it, so is under the thumb of the phallocentric capitalist patriarchy. And she's not yelling insults at the men watching her. She definitely needs time in a re-education commune.

And you're psychotic. Go ahead, keep going. I'll play the name-calling game with you if that, and conspiracy theories are all you've got.

Thanks BF. I did not know that (not that I am happy to know what I now know.)

By the way, Dog ... Still waiting....

Is your point here and the point of your meme that feminism somehow has something to do with men who like to cum on women's faces and celebrity antics? I don't get what you're saying here.

More of a comment on how easy it was for pop culture, including the porno industry, to co-opt and and destroy from within everything that feminism was supposed to be about. It degenerated from real-world concerns about voting rights, domestic violence, and fair wages to some obnoxious and generally little pop-sluts pushing a horrible image and message of "hey, look at me, I'm a real feminist!". That it all ends up just putting more money, once again through both porno and pop culture consumption, into the pockets of the entertainment industry types that know exactly how to push a social phenomemon or trend in the precise way to generate as much profit for themselves seems to keep going under everyone's radar. Just another classic example (kind of like the TeaBirchers in a way) of the extremes, fringers, and ne'er-do-wells hijacking a movement that actually once had a valuable message.

BTW, letting some guy blow his load on your face while another films it isn't a definition of "empowerment", no matter what these ridiculous third/fourth/fifth wave of Generation X/Millenial hipster feminists have convinced themselves. It's more like someone making money off of the degrading equivalent of what a dog tends to do naturally when it encounters a tree or fire hydrant.

Porn, facial cumshots, sexualized pop culture and objectification of women are not creations of feminism nor does feminism condone any of the above.

Porn stars, Miley Cyrus et al are not feminists or spokespersons of any feminist group. They have probably not read a single piece of feminist literature between thm all.

That some idiot resorts to using some school of thought
as justification for doing the exact opposite of what that school of thought stands for should be a critique agsinst the idiot, not the school of thought.
