Thanos Thanos:
DrCaleb DrCaleb:
Besides, a bullet to the head means someone has to fire the bullet. And anyone that is OK with that might not be the person you want pulling the trigger.

There's enough sadists and wannabe-hangmen out there, and not just in Texas either. I'm sure there'd be no shortage of volunteers. Might take some of the fun out of it for them if they're not allowed to aim at the knees or crotch though. :|

Which is exactly why they should not be allowed to do it. Killing for fun should never be sanctioned by any state. Bad things would happen.

The Texans will run a lottery and the winner gets to snuff someone.

Yeah. Like canned hunting of innocent animals by these types of "tough guys" isn't disgusting and dishonourable enough. Like the man said,

They should let death row inmates execute death row inmates.
1. They done it before or they wouldn't be on death row
b. no innocent people who become killers by having to
and 3. they know they will be next.

win-win-win?

(I'm still not liking the death penalty. But hey, who am I? )

They should televise the who thing and get a panel to judge it. I wonder is Howie Mandel is available?

1) Evacuate all the staff and empty out the kitchens and storage rooms of all food
2) Weld all the outside doors shut, shoot anyone that tries to go over the wall or out a window
3) Remotely open all the cell and corridor doors
4) Use a helicopter to drop a huge box of swords and axes into the central courtyard
5) Announce over the PA that the last convict standing gets some food and a new mattress
6) Broadcast live on the internet and FOX News
7) Sit back and enjoy the hilarity

Oh yeah, I think we've got something here......

Seriously? No freaking pay-per-view?

If you are going to throw a fat, juicy, money maker, like this, out there you best be making the plebs pay for the entertainment!

I would easily shell out for that channel.

Why you all fooling and joking with Texas, Florida just executed one. Just a reminder Montana has a Canuk awaiting the Death Chamber. Oh and I'm all the way for pay per TV Execution and public execution pay seating outside city hall.

I was wondering when this would decay into overly elaborate methods to kill people.

stratos stratos:
Don't worry I'm sure we will continue to execute the murderers and cop killers. Strange that people want to speak up for them but never want to speak up for those that they killed.

Not true.
We have massive sympathy for all victims and their grieving families whose loved ones will never be alive again.

Our beef is with the state and its actions...its premeditated, cold-blooded, killing of human beings in death chambers...and those who support it.

It's so much like 'Auschwitz' that it sends shivers down our spines.

It makes the state a death dealer....a cold-blooded killer if you like.

Excuse me???

You seriously compare the death penalty (that I am not too fond off, I must add.) with Auschwitz?? The killing of innocent Jews just for the fuck of it is the same to you as killing a cop killer as punishment for the crimes they committed??

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
bambu bambu:
Execution-homiciding human beings in death chambers is barbaric.

It's barbaric in Indonesia.
It's barbaric in China.
It's barbaric in Iran.

And it's barbaric in Texas.

Texas stands condemned.

The People of Texas need to wake up to themselves and abolish their death chambers...or risk being labelled 'barbarians', 'uncivilised' etc.

Obama also stands condemned for not speaking out against America's death chambers, and not doing something to rid the landscape of them.

Barbaric maybe, uncivilized maybe, but what's without question is the fact that the people of Texas apparently don't agree with your assessment and methods of risk mitigation.

So allow me to ask. What other alternatives do you have for people who's crimes are so heinous that putting them in prison is neither a deterrent or a risk mitigation factor?

It's well known that these people if given the opportunity willingly kill again while incarcerated and have no respect for life inside or outside the prison system but, if you put them in a Supermax or segregation with no human contact to alleviate the chance of them committing more murders, the same people who championed keeping them off death row now almost invariably take up the cause to have them put back into population because of this alleged cruel and unusual punishment.

People forget that the Justice Systems responsibility for peoples safety doesn't stop at the door of the prison and the people inside have the same right to expect that their personal safety will be respected as you or I do, their crimes or jobs not withstanding.

So once again, what's your solution to ensure everyone's safety other than just condemnation of the practice as barbaric and uncivilized?

Well down in "dumb, drunk, racist, and 'backward'" kangarooland we abolished the cold-blooded killing of human beings by the state decades ago.
It was a long, hard battle to 'get' the politicians and their death chamber supporters, but we won in the end.

Now, those who would've been walked into the death chamber[gallows] alive, then wheeled out dead, exterminated by the state...are sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.
They are usually locked up in maximum security prisons...the very worst in Supermax [in the town of Goulburn in my state of NSW].

INSIDE THE SUPERMAX PRISON AT GOULBURN - 2

No one escapes.
God decides when they die.

Very few people, very few, ever complain about the jails being 'cruel and unusual punishment'...as they know what the alternative is.

Many people ring the radio wanting to re-introduce the death penalty.
One elderly lady rang the no1 radio station wanting to tie the Bali bombers to a chair, cut their ears off and let them slowly bleed to death.
Some people agreed with her, but we told her that that is one's first instinct, but as that would be barbaric and we are civilised, that we cannot be supporting that.
