BTW, I find it very interesting that a woman can apparently not have an opinion about circumcision, while we are parents too. I guess I should also not give my sons sex ed, or buy him condoms then...

I don't know why that bothers you. Men have no say about aborting or not aborting a child and the sweet thing is, they're still financially liable.

Keep it in your pants or get snipped if you don't want kids. Not hard.

Is that like keeping the panties up and the knees together for the ladies?

Even if I didn't want the baby, and its mother kept it, I think I'd want to pay her as much as I could afford to raise it. Maybe that's just me. :?

I actually have a wallet made out of foreskins. When you rub it, it turns into a suitcase.

Doctors circumcise boys for health reasons. There is no medical grounds for female genital mutilation, other than evil monkeys run those societies.

BS there is NO medical evidence it's beneficial. NONE.

Boys that are uncircumcised are much more likely to get UTI's, STD's, etc.

95% of boys that have an penile infection are uncircumcised.

Almost ALL males with penile cancer are uncircumcised.

I'm not at all religious yet had my son circumcised the day after he was born. Looks better and reduced his risk of having medical issues as a child and as an adult.

Well I can't fault you because you actually posted studies you feel back your case. :) It's refreshing to see that on this topic for a change.

However I question if your only reading the parts that are relevent to the argument you wish to present

for example with your first source:

"In 1975, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) stated in no uncertain terms that "there is no absolute medical indication for routine circumcision of the newborn." In 1983, the AAP and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) restated this position. In 1999 and again in 2005, the AAP again restated this position of equivocation."

The AAP is a very scholarly lot and their stance speaks volumes more then some studies that have not yet gone through the peer review process from what I have seen.

As for your second link I'll see your study with two others:

http://www.circumstitions.com/Utis.html#cause

http://www.circumstitions.com/Utis.html#israel

The truth is it's a heavily charged field with proponents of circumcision charged with providing proof of a religious practice over those simply trying to find out if a claim is true. Guess who's more likely to stretch the facts?

Not to mention the whole urinary tract infection bit has always boggled me because GIRLS GET MORE INFECTIONS THEN BOYS!! Yet how often do we see studies done trying to reduce that risk in girls? Seems like an actual doctor would be more apt to study that first.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_do_women_ ... s_than_men

Seriously though thanks for posting some actual studies and reasoning behind your argument. I may disagree with your assessment but thanks. :)

Well, I kinda of agree but at the same time, guys are held liable for something they are a part of but have zero legal right to decide its outcome.

I can't imagine some dude enforcing a woman to have an abortion simply because he does not want the child, but I find equally repugnant (though it appears perfectly acceptable by women) that some dude who desperately wants to keep the child is SOL if the women wants it gone.

I posted the articles in contradiction of those claiming that the procedure has no benefit. Naturally I would post articles to support that point.

Because it's not easily solved, as it is with boys.

A simple procedure that aids in the prevention of a whole host of things which doesn't affect the usage or appearance just seems like the correct thing to do.

I had my boy done when he was a day old and for those reasons above.

Do you even know how they treat urinary infection in women....antibiotics.

If you want to claim it's harder to fix in boys you need to provide some evidence to back that up.

That and you still haven't addressed the issue of your claims of an increase in aids in comparison to the actual medical organizations not taking any stance in that direction.

With AIDS and urinary tract infection off the list of demonstrable benefits I would assert that most people circumcise out of tradition and aesthetics and I disagree with removing parts of a baby's genitals for any reasons but medical cause.

Because putting a needle in the penis is much more painful than the procedure itself.
