OnTheIce OnTheIce: EyeBrock EyeBrock: He's toast at the next election.
Politics is about how you come across to the masses, it doesn't matter if you are a good manager. Interpersonal skills are key. Rob continues to show his arse over piddly things and it will lose him his job as mayor. It's all about image. Toronto doesn't care about substance or policy....the mayor is fat and sweaty....he can't be good as his job. News flash OTI. Politics is all about image.

Zipperfish Zipperfish: OK, admittedly I'm not in Toronto, but I gather that he's not exactly hittig home runs on the substcbe and policy front either.
Still, I guess it is like a real-life Peter Griffin. That's gotta count for something.
He's not hitting home runs, but he's doing what he said he'd do....which is taboo for Toronto. Toronto has a massive NIMBY problem, they know something has to be done about spending, but don't have the stones to do anything. Shallow City....brutal to watch them implode on themselves.

I guess for a guy that looks like Ford, everything looks like gravy, but: $1: If it wasn’t clear already, this morning’s announcement should kill any lingering doubt that Ford has, rather spectacularly, violated his campaign promise not to cut city services. Ford voters now must look square in the face at a fiscal reality that says that damn near every dollar of revenue — taxes — removed from the city’s coffers must be complemented with an equivalent cut to service. Most of the 2012 savings come from proposed TTC cuts, including to Blue Night service, which would have a devastating effect on low-income people across the city, particularly in suburban neighbourhoods. Many of the remaining cuts are nickel-and-dime stuff, and little analysis seems to have been done to measure the financial impacts cuts to services can have to other departments or agencies

This might have been OK to do if they'd jumped him outside his office or outside the council room. Doing it at his house with his little kids around makes it outright creepy and significantly less funny, not that this stupid schtick is all that funny to begin with.

You don't have a clue about the situation, so cut and paste about something else.

But he comes off looking like a wanker. But then we already knew that.

This is a political smear job from our state funded CBC, who actually hired and flew in Mary Walsh specifically to smear a public figure. It went wrong so what do they do - they attempt damage control by publishing unverified gossip which has since been reputiaded by the Police Chief.
They (CBC) have a lot explaining to do - since when is it acceptable for a state funded media to take what was clearly political action in order to undermine a politician whom CBC dislikes. Their attempt to create a story not supported by facts and smear Ford has gone wrong.
this hour has 22 morons
Ford should file a lawsuit but that would just cater to the left wing hype and possibly bruise relationships with the police, not to mention taking time away from his job.
Releasing the tapes doesn't matter anymore, if they clear Ford they'll insist they were edited anyway...

That's a load of shit. If Ford didn't have a stick up his ass, it could have been an opportunity for him to show the public a sense of humour. It could have been a huge boon for his popularity if he'd not been too stupid to recognize that opportunity. Look what Rick Mercer did for Bob Rae and Stephen Harper.
I said earlier, it was inappropriate to pull the stunt at Ford's home. But it only became a character assassination when Ford made it one for himself.

Olbermann dubs Ford ‘worst person in the world’If you ask Keith Olbermann, Rob Ford is the worst person in the world. Toronto’s mayor was featured in Olbermann’s Worst Persons segment of his Countdown program Friday for his behaviour when he called 911 after his encounter with This Hour has 22 Minutes’ Mary Walsh. “The new conservative executive (in Toronto) has had a rough start but never was it rougher than Monday,” the political pundit said. Early Monday morning Ford was approached by Walsh, in character as Marg Delahunty, on the driveway of his Etobicoke home. Ford then called 911. The CBC, citing anonymous police sources, reported that Ford said, “You ... bitches! Don't you f---ing know? I'm Rob f---ing Ford, the mayor of this city!” Police Chief Bill Blair has since said that these reports are inaccurate, and that Ford never used the word “bitches.” Olbermann read all but the first remark on-air as he railed against Ford and named him the worst person in the world, edging out Glenn Beck. “Toronto’s Rob effing Ford The mayor of his effing city. Today’s effing worst person in the effing world,” said Olbermann in conclusion. Ford, who is now in Guadalajara, Mexico, for the closing ceremonies of the Pan Am Games, could not be reached for comment. http://www.thestar.com/article/1078201- ... ld#article

He's terrified of an old woman in a costume, but not the prospect of being in one of the most violent places in the Americas?

Releasing the tapes doesn't matter anymore, if they clear Ford they'll insist they were edited anyway... 22 Minutes and Rick Mercer have been doing this kind of thing to politicians of ALL parties since they've been on the air...thisthis is not a politically-motivated targeting. Nor was the CBC the source of the alleged "smear" or the only media outlet to report Rob Ford's verbal abuse of city staff. As for the real facts, we'll never know until the tape gets out (and I hope it does).

The only difference is that 22 Minutes usually ambushed the politicians at a public venue and not their private residences. As much I think Rob Ford to be a block head, I sense desperation from Mary Walsh. How well has her career gone since she left 22 Minutes?

Agreed, and how well did it go WITH 22 minutes? The only thing worth watching are their parody commercials.
Still, a ridiculous over-reaction from the Mayor. And we haven't touched the issue of how Ford's budget cuts to the police will affect response time. What is the police code for comedian prank anyways? Might be a good subject for the next episode of Flashpoint.
