Everyone gets a pat down. Why the boo-hoo now?
I've seen American WASP businessmen being patted down intensely in European airports. Why should the kid be treated any differently?
You're assuming patting down either the businessmen or the girl made anyone safer. It only made people
feel safer.
It did make people safer - not like we've had a bunch of gonchie bombers after that.
Now, using the Israeli method may make people safer yet, since they've been very successful at preventing incidents and must be subject to more attempts than anybody else.
I wonder tho if their methods would work in large countries with lots of traffic. And Israel has a very militarized, alert population. Still it's certainly something you would think other governments would look at. You say the us uses screeners because of some boondoggle or other. But that's not true in Canada, yet we seem to be going down the same road.
And how many gonchie bombers did we have before that? 'Safe' is a relative term.
I think we're going to go down the same road, as their security industry is our security industry (Thanks NAFTA!) and our politicians most likely see the profit in their system.
I have no idea if the Israeli system is scalable, but I would have thought someone would try the cheaper and more efficient solution, given 'these economic times'.
