Choban Choban:
Sorry folks, I see no excuse for this, these are 5 year old kids, not a bunch of unruly teens or even older elementary kids, what ever happened to removing the disruptive students from the class?
Were it my kids I'd demand this teacher never teach again, taking year 1 kids (we're talking kindergarden here) and taping their mouths shut. It's expected that kids this age will act up, it takes time to settle a bunch of 5 year olds down, we are here blaming parents or reminising about the good old spanking days ect when we should be looking at this teachers capacity to deal with unruly kids.

If she used duct tape, I'd be screaming too. But from what I understand, it's ordinary scotch tape, not a big deal, it's more symbolic than anything else.

A lot better than sitting in a corner with a dunce hat on, unless some of the kids had mustaches... that's a bitch with any tape. 8O

And there is the point I raise my eyebrows.
It IS a big deal.
If she can't deal with a bunch of 5 year olds, and has to touch them, and tape their mouths shut, she is NOT in the right profession.

There is NO way in hell I would let my kids go to a school that allows this.

Yogi Yogi:
raydan raydan:
Thing is Yogi is that these things, for me at least, if not completely forgotten are at least forgiven... I can laugh today and have no hard feelings.
Why, you may ask... is that I deserved the punishment.
It's not like kids who got regular beatings from their parents for nothing, or very little.

I hear ya Ray! For some sick/twisted reason, like Brenda said 'Fond memories'!

Exactly. Reminds of that line from the guy in the hotel lobby in Four Weddings and a Funeral:

$1:
George the boor at The Boatman: I was at school with his brother Bufty. Tremendous bloke. He was head of my house. Buggered me senseless. Still, it taught me about life.

The teachers got it back sometimes though. An acquaintance of mine on the phone with the school sadist teacher had him convinced that his adult son had just died falling off a roof one time . Had the guy in tears. Not something I would do myself, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little bit of smug satisfaction when I heard about it. It was a case of "asshole meets bigger asshole."

Thanks, I agree with lots of folks that this is a far cry from abuse or anything like that but this isn't behaviour that a teacher should be engaging in, she needs a good hard look at her chosen profession.
I wnder too how many would condone this if it was their kids or imagine your boss doing something like this to you at work cause your being a bit rowdy, I'm sure the outrage would be huge.
