EyeBrock EyeBrock:
And you are the man to fix it andy. If only you could get out of your basement.
Yep, it's a shame. Such talent going to waste. Oh, well, as long as the cops don't shoot me, I guess it doesn't really affect me and I can just go back to sleep.

You know, I've always respected your posts, even when I didn't agree with them, because you actually addressed the issue in an intelligent way. But in this case the topic seems to have you rattled, where all you do is insult. Do you really never spend any time reflecting on what you guys could be doing better, where you could be more open? Is this defensiveness trained into you, would you be letting the side down by being more open, or is it just too scary a topic to look at?

I'll take input from a credible source. Unfortunately, on this subject, you just 'aint credible.

You just tell us how bad the cops are. It isn't the way to start a conversation.

diggerdick diggerdick:
I do understand the way you think and judge people its the way cops are trained....

Alright, welcome back to Diggerdick's Police Mentality Training. He can't spell, yet he's damn insightful into the curriculum.

Okay class, remember, in today's lesson, we're going to learn that everybody is a crook not yet incarcerated. You, Smith and Horowitz, you go over there and arrest that baby. You, Phillips, you punch out the mother, plant some crack on her...no, no, no! You're doing it all wrong! She wouldn't have crack in her hair! Idiot!

Horowitz, don't handcuff the baby to yourself, that's gross. Smith, stop laughing at Phillips, you're skating on thin ice since you smiled at that old person. Oh for fuck's sake Phillips, she wouldn't tape crack to the bottom of her shoe. That's just...Jesus, HOROWITZ CLOTHE THE BABY! Don't put it's clothes in your pocket...why would you do that? Phillips, why is your hand in the air? What do you mean? Shoe-crack? Who has shoe-crack? No Phillips, it's not retro-clever. I don't even know what retro-clever means.

Smith, were you wearing your class ring when you punched the mother out? Look at me. Look at me. You see how she has the inverse of McGill University dented in her forehead? Well shit, take off your ring, put it on the ground and we'll chuck her headfirst into it to fake the forensics.

Alright, Dunn, you go over there and trick this teenager into burning a car, then arrest him. Teenagers are dumb. Give him some matches and tell him society won't like it if he burns a car. Or your zippo, fine. Yes, you'll get your zippo back. Smith will punch the teenager, WITHOUT HIS RING, if he won't give it back. HOROWITZ GET THE BABY OUT OF THE CAR. No, it's not a cute Anne Geddes photo if the baby's driving a burning car. Dunn, did that teen just burn the garbage can?

Okay, you know what? You people just don't get it. Class dismissed. Come back tomorrow.

Oh and TAKE YOUR GUN FROM THE BABY HOROWITZ!

Actually Andy, trying to discuss anything with you is like wrestling a biased greased pig.

It would be easier trying to play Monkey Island 2 Special Edition if I threw my controller in the dishwasher on sani-rinse and yelled commands at it than to get you to admit you botched something, or you don't know.

I'd have more success gluing air to water than holding you to explain yourself.

Don't knock Eyebrock when you approach the discussion as an exercise in diversion, obfuscation and outright avoidance.

I'm criticism specific actions by specific cops, starting with the G20. My far greater concern is the structure behind those specific cops that seeks to spin and deny, instead of addressing the issue. You take that as attacking all cops, and that's too bad. I think cops play a vital role in our system, one that should be respected. I think most cops are decent people trying to do a good job. But, because of the power we give them, I do think we need to be very vigilant with what they get up to. Unfortunately your attitude seems to be representative of many cops - circle the squad cars. It's only when they leave the service that they seem willing to actually address the issues. Too bad.

And since you don't want to even go half-way, we should leave the 'conversation' at that eh?

PS We don't have squad cars in Canada.

Stop thinking we are bad.

Stop thinking that we are the enemy of left-of-centre voters.

Start thinking that despite what youtube and the media think, we have a side to the G20 thing and we were well justified.

Stop thinking that you know better about complex investigations than well trained investigators that are highly educated.

Try listening and stop preaching.

An open mind is always a good start.

To do this job properly, an open mind is the only way to go, we appreciate others with an open mind.

People get defensive when other people attack. It's human nature and the cops are actually human.

I don't think you're bad - I've made that clear repeatedly.

Never thought that, never said it.

Some of what you did was no doubt well justified. Some, by sufficient reports to be credible sounds like it was not.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:

I'd have to be nuts to think that. But when cops investigating cops treat them differently than other suspects, that worries me. Giving Koester 30 days before interviewing him, and giving him a list of questions that will be asked in advance, doesn't sound good to me. Putting the Dziekanski cowboys in a room together so they can compare notes, get their story straight, doesn't sound good to me. So often when cops are investigated you hear this sort of thing.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Try listening and stop preaching.
Right back at yah, big guy.

Yes it is.

I get that. But not everything is an attack - ie somebody just trying to do you harm. Criticism is often citizens minding what is in fact their business.

See, that's the thing, you take what I say as an attack on all cops. Actually I'm not even out for blood in the cop killings I've mentioned. With what I believe happened in the Bush and St Arnaud killings, I could see charging the cops involved with manslaughter, but if convicted they should get a very light sentence. They weren't trying to do grievous harm to the guys they killed, it just seems they over reacted. At the very least they should have been taken off the job, given psych evals, and if found fit for duty, retrained. The Dziekansky cowboys were just that - cowboys. They were told Tasers are safe so go nuts, and they did. Again, they at the very least need retraining, but what should be looked at is the role of their superiors in the incident, from before it started to afterwards. I'm much more concerned that management isn't doing it's job very well.

The off duty cops that beat up the newspaper deliverer, telling him "we don't like brown guys" OTOH, should have been charged with a hate crime. The St Arnaud killer is now up for assault while off duty - if he's convicted the RCMP should take a close look if they really want to keep him. Same with the Vancouver area RCMP that's now up for the second time for assaulting a person in custody. If he can't keep it under control, he should not be a cop.

Nice.
