You don't seem to be getting the obvious here. If she did such a great job, why was she dispatched to China when her direct boss came to Canada?

Her website used to have on it that she was 'head of state' and that was closed down once it came out.

It's time we stopped worrying about what the Quebecois think of English Canada and just celebrated our heritage like the Quebecois celebrate theirs.

Appointing French citizens as the GG isn't doing that.

Imagine if our GG had roots from England and a crisis happened there and that person spent alot of time focusing on England. I would imagine a certain people in this country would be screaming bloody murder.

I think people miss that point. Both her and Lafond are French citizens, hardly the culural background for a GG of Canada.

She has to be a Canadian citizen to be GG so she must have dual citizenship..nothing wrong with that.. I have British/Canadian.. and I could run for office if I wanted to.

Sorry to burst your bubble but he actually consulted with the Liberals and NDP with regards to his recent choice as Johnston for the GG position prior to the nomination. They had no problem with his choice, not only that but also collectively agreed he was a qualified and an acceptable candidate as Canada's GG.

Saying that you're implying then that the Liberals and the NDP are just as evil as Harper is, translation = you fail. So you can put your tin foil hat back on and go back to cooking possesed kittens in your microwave.

Actually I'm implying that his name is hilariously common sounding and that's something I personally find enjoyable. Makes them seem so much less bourgeoisie. It's nice to dream.

If you need my serious opinion of this man, I do not know him. I've read a few things, but all in truth, I have no idea who he is. I'm of the understanding that he's well-respected and honoured on all sides.

Here's hoping he's a legitimate and appropriate choice.

Totally coincidental that the first 'Common surnames' list I saw all sounded Male. Not intended to imply anything politically. We have done a good job with our selection of GG's for the most part.
