EyeBrock EyeBrock:
What's the grounds for a public enquiry?

$1:
The actions of the government and the police during the G20 Summit demonstrate the need for answers, accountability, and action. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) is calling for:

1) An independent inquiry into the actions of the police during the G20, including:

The dispersal of protestors at the designated demonstration site in Queen’s Park late afternoon, Saturday June 26th;
The detention and mass arrest on the Esplanade on the night of Saturday, June 26th;
The arrests and police actions outside the Eastern Ave. detention centre on the morning of Sunday, June 27th;
The prolonged detention and mass arrest of individuals at Queen St. W. and Spadina Ave. on the evening of Sunday, June 27th;
The conditions of detention at the Eastern Ave. detention centre;
2) Repeal or amendment of the Public Works Protection Act to meet basic constitutional standards; and

3) Law reform to ensure that the Criminal Code provisions relating to “breach of the peace”, “unlawful assemblies” and “riots” are brought in line with constitutional standards.

Snarky enough?

Curtman Curtman:
Summit security encourages people to avoid driving and take TTC. Subway stations will stay open but some surface routes will be diverted. The 504 King St. streetcar will run as usual but the 509 and 510 streetcars will bypass the Queens Quay station at Bay St., which closes from June 25-27.

Good for you, you found a article. However I found real-life experience. I live in Toronto, pretty near all this situation. I couldn't get a bus, subway if my life depended on it. All the subways diverted away from the protest areas, as did the bus routes. For obvious reasons of police blocking streets and protestors crowding areas. You couldn't get into a subway station. Though I guess in your vast knowledge of Toronto's subways, I am incorrect?

Obviously not. Trying to do so gets you locked up for 36 hours, even in a TTC uniform.

I am not debating the justification of locking him up. I am debating his version of the story which seems bullshit to me. Obviously he got locked up, wether it was justified or not I am not sure so I am not debating that. However I know cops do not go around arresting average joes for shit and giggles or give out some lame ass quotation like the one he provided that he said the cops said to him as they were arresting him. It sounds made up and bullshit and that's what I am debating.

Point I was trying to make was, in the area he was strolling in. There is no way he could get to work. A lot of subways were blocked off. Either by police blockaids who blocked a entire street or by a mass of protestors. Cops wouldn't let anybody in or out, even if they work there. The entire area was in lockdown. People were stuck in buildings, other people who couldn't get in for work. Even Scotia Bank workers were locked in and out, most of them that day were damage accessment guys who backup there servers and data and keep them operational. Point being is, I think his version is bullshit. It doesn't add up to me, therefor I call bullshit. It's my opinion, just like it's yours that all cops are abusive assholes who love to harrass citizens despite knowing doing so they will get caught and fired.

Hahahah... You are entitled to your opinion, however ridiculous it may be. My opinion is still that having the G20 in downtown anywhere is a terrible idea.

Find us another media link andy. They all seem to agree with you and curt but not the 73% of Toronto residents and the police.

Yay! Video time again.

I'm curious about this one:

And how it relates to EB's comments in the other thread:

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Radicals without a message and embarking on criminal and/or anti-social behaviour will face police actions and arrest.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
The legitimate ones had a cause and a point. The horde that got arrested after the anarchists burnt our cruisers, well they didn't.

I don't think people should be allowed to hand out marijuana on the street even if EB thinks it's legit.

I do, as long as they only give it to adults. Should be same with beer.

Oh behave.

If half of those total knobs I met and who happily screamed abuse at me,( especially on Sunday) had been partaking of the old smelly green stuff, the G20 demos would have been arrest free.

That would have been nice eh?

Dave's guitar solo at the end of 'Sheep' could be one of the greatest short ones in all of rock history.

BTW, McSquinty said there'd be no public inquiry on any of the nonsense that went down in T.O.. Suck it up, lefties, you'll have to go elsewhere this time for you whiny BS routine to cash in for you.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
I don't know when these guys start their shifts or what the situation was....so I keep my ass out of the conversation.

That sounds reasonable. Except you would know if you read the article, and so would Bacardi4206.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
You often add nothing to a conversation but empty rhetoric in the attempt to get people pissed off.

And the point of your post was good natured I'm sure.

Shit, you mean one article with a brief mention of a start shift time is gospel? I did read the article, troll.

I'm glad to see you believe everything you read, especially from a Liberal rag like the Toronto Star that would love nothing more than to pin anything on Harper.

Troll on......

Here's another piece of yellow journalism:

$1:
Of a million G20 stories in this taken city, this was mine

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/of-a-million-g20-stories-in-this-taken-city-this-was-mine/article1627063/?cmpid=rss1

Maybe this was the problem:
$1:
I'll admit that my well-developed civic pride and years of watching Toronto police frequently show not merely restraint but compassion, with some truly patience-testing people, made me reflexively, if unfairly, wonder whether these officers were from out of town.
