Basically having our own culture, and example is "O'Canada" in schools, Canadian flags, saying "Merry Christmas" or wearing a poppy, all those things which some would say are part of Canadian Culture. Yet every year you will hear of some group some place in Canada having a problem with it, because it is not part of their culture. It makes them feel not included in Canada. How I do not know, I still can't understand how people get offended when we sing "O'Canada", hang a Canadian flag or wear a poppy, yet they do every single year. Same with saying Merry Christmas (Christmas is anything but religious in Canada anymore).
I guess I just misunderstood because to me that's not "our own culture" that's for all Canadians new or old. Whos got a problem with O Canada and Canadian flags? And the only people I see having a problem with poppies are the people who hate
white poppies. And not to niggle further but I get the impression the Merry Christmas controversy comes mainly from Liberal eager beavers and atheists not from most minorities themselves.

Canadian history is now becoming a stormy subject in public schools because "minorities" feel it has nothing to do with their history (even though they live in Canada).
Well that sounds dumb. Canadian history is the history of what happens in and about this country. But I haven't met any "minorities" that are too retarded to understand that concept so I'm not sure that's a huge trend/issue.
It is supposed to be for new and old Canadians, I never said anywhere it wasn't. There are a few topics on this forums covering news stories about people having problems with O Canada and Canadian flags in public schools. A police offer has even been told by a judge in Ontario not to wear a poppy in her court because it can be offensive to some groups. The Merry Christmas controversy comes from minority groups as well as Liberals.
Yes is it dumb, but as far as the left is concerned if your family is from India or China why should you care about Canada's history?
