llama66 llama66: really all this over what? whether he ate a communion wafer or not? really I don't like the man much, but if I'm going to go after him and his party I'd look something bigger than whether or not he ate a communion wafer. this whole affair is quite childish, is there not bigger problems in the world, like the death of Michael Jackson we should be worrying about? Michael Jackson? Not really much more of a priority to say the least..... he's dead. He ain't getting anymore deader and will be dead tomorrow and the next day. No offense, I just think we're all going to be dealing with constant MJ news and crap all over the tv and radio and by the time the year is over and we run out of things to hear, it'll be the one year anneversary of his death and it'll start all over again for another year, much like 9/11. Back to Harper and the situation in debate, indeed, it's not all that important.... he can always go to confession. Wakka Wakka

I was comparing this to the triviality of the the MJ death watch, this isn't even a news story.

Wakka Wakka You guys are missing the point.. do you know what the host (wafer) represents to Catholics.. him shoving it in his pocket was outragious and an insult to millions of Catholics around the world.. he should have known better than get in that position. If one is not Catholic then they cannot take the sacraments of the church. lets have some respect eh!

Come on, I'm a good Catholic and I see this kind of thing all the times at weddings.
Those poor Protestants maybe able to use birth contol, have abortions and shag and marry members of the same sex, but they know nothing about the Sacraments...SINNERS! Stone them I say....

Chewing on it allows for ritual canabalism. $1: him shoving it in his pocket was outragious and an insult to millions of Catholics around the world.. If that insults you, then you might want to stay inside and hide under the pillows. The world might be too mean for you. $1: he should have known better than get in that position. If I were going to attend a service by another religion, I would find out what is expected and act accordingly.. The priest or minister can hardly be accountable if some twit goes and accepts the sacrament of communion. I think the head of a country like harper would learn the rules.. he knew he shouldn't be accepting it and probably didn't know what is was and what it represents.. he could have avoided the whole issue by finding out.. his behaviour is unacceptable because of his position.. and as a Catholic you should be defending the faith.. right?

kenmore kenmore: Whats your faith Gunair? if you have one.. so I can shit all over it.. Pagan. Do your worst. You certainly don't see me pissing my pants and squealing in righteous indignation after you guys borrowed Yule/Winter Solstice for XMas, or any of the other observances that were used to further the agenda of the early church.

My Irish mother would have told me what a heathen he was, but then she thought the IRA were a bunch of good guys.
Really, this matters little. If Iggy had done the same I wouldn't be looking for crucifixion on this. He probably thought he was doing the right thing, like most proddies try to do at a Catholic wedding or funeral in Canada. Not a biggy really.
My mother was the last generation of my family to get real picky on the Catholic faith. I lived through the Troubles and went to funerals of my collegues killed by terrorists professing to be good Catholics.
Harper not knowing what to do during Holy Communion is pretty petty really ken.

What ever...how do you know the priest knew harper wasn't a Catholic? and besides when someone stands in front of the priest for communion, what was the priest to do? tell him to fuck off out of the line? I don't care who gets communion, but I do have a prob with his lack of respect for the host by shoving it in his pocket.. I am a Catholic and I respect all other faiths and even your pagan beliefs. If I went to your gatherings I would find out before what it was about and follow your rules etc.. and after all its more about harper's position as PM..he should know better..
